Gandja Monteiro

Gandja Monteiro recently wrapped directing the upcoming Marvel/Disney+ series, Agatha All Along. Prior to this, she followed Tim Burton, directing episodes 105 and 106 of Netflix’s wildly popular series Wednesday as well as two episodes of The Witcher for its upcoming third season. Previously she was the producing director on Showtime’s The Chi season 4, where she directed close to half the season, including the finale. She directed the final two episodes of Panic for Amazon created by Lauren Oliver and episodes of Brand New Cherry Flavour for Netflix created by Nick Antosca and Lenore Zion. She got her start in TV directing episodes of VIDA for Starz.

Raised between New York City’s Lower East Side and Brazil, Gandja has been making films since she was 17 and travelling the world since she was just three months old. This early exposure to such vast cultures instilled a curiosity that has always inspired and informed her work. She is a graduate in film at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women, as well as a fellow of Fox's TV Directing Lab.

Gandja has directed work in more than a dozen countries, four continents, and eight languages; commercials and branded content for industry heavy-hitters such as Nike, Adidas, Google, Coca-Cola, AT&T, and Chevrolet; and music videos for rappers like Marcelo D2 and Pusha-T.

Gandja also directed the final two episodes of the upcoming first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City, the next chapter of The Walking Dead. She is also set to direct the feature film Sabu for Warner Bros., produced by MACRO, with Anthony Ramos starring. The film is based on the life of Hector “Sabu” Monsegur, the founder of ‘Lulzsec’, an offshoot of the infamous hacking collective "Anonymous.”.
