Ignore the claims of “Gay Subtext”

I’ve watched this movie a number of times and still can’t understand the claims that Freddy Krueger was supposed to represent the main protagonist’s supposed “repressed homosexuality”. It’s a load of crap in my honest opinion.

People have debated for decades over this movie’s supposed “gayness” and both the writer and the director denied any such thing for years until more recently when everyone went woke and started worshipping and pandering to the LGBT community. The director still denies any gay subtext but the writer, after almost 40 years of denying it, now claims it was intentional. I don’t believe it. It sounds like virtue signaling for woke points.

The actor in the lead role is gay in real life and at times that may slip through, mostly in his screaming, but in terms of the character or movie in general there is nothing at all to suggest that the character was intended to be a closeted homosexual or much less that Freddy Krueger was meant to represent his supposed repressed homosexuality.

All that aside, pretty good movie. Not as good as the original, but nothing is.
