Pretty Woman

The plot is similar to Pretty Woman. Such films stroke the primal urges of some women almost to the point of insanity. Consider this quote from a 10/10 review on IMDB:

"Dangerous Beauty brought me back to Life! It inspired me emotionally and physically... The movie blends comedy, romance, swordfights, poetry, sex, the plague/Inquisition, and self-sacrifice. It makes you long for such 'a soulmate love' as this. (That's why I saw Dangerous Beauty 33 times in the theater! Yes, I did! It was MY 'Titanic / Gone with the Wind / Casablanca'.)"

Keep in mind that the "soulmate" cheats on his wife with the prostitute.

For women, Dangerous Beauty is more dangerous than crack cocaine. I'm sorry to report that my wife loved it.

Although the film is based on a real person, a particularly harmful variety of feminism colors the portrayal and distorts history. Marriage is portrayed as inferior to prostitution. There is a cringy scene where the mother teaches her daughter how to please a man using a live nude model. Search for the IMDB reviews by Danimal-7 and DennisLittrell for more about the feminist lens in this movie.

Although filled with high caliber actors, the poor acting of Oliver Platt took me out of the film. He plays a sexually frustrated "bad man" who participates too enthusiastically in a "play" sword fight against our whorey heroine. So, it's cringe on top of poor acting.

If you ignore all that, it's kind of enjoyable.
