An amateur tennis player must keep up the facade of being a pro to delay her wedding to a man she’s fallen out of love with. If her career takes off, she can excuse herself from the relationship with the promise of bigger and better things, even though it might reveal she was leading him on, but if she fails, she’d rather be in a one-sided marriage than completely alone.
