Pha-Q woke
A True Classic
Nothing Woke. The one that started it all holds up amazingly well. Sure the fx are obviously miniatures and a guy in a suit but it's done very well for the time and is not distracting at all. The miniature sets are very well constructed and blended in with the action. The acting is good and of course the story is tragic. An absolute classic and a must watch.

The Japanese Zone
You arrive home after an exhausting day of theorizing about Godzilla, and your unmarried virginal 21 year old daughter kneels and greets you, "welcome home". She bows her head as she takes your briefcase like some sacred samurai sword, and leaves to put it in its designated place. You have wandered through time and space into the Japanese Zone.
So, it's not woke.
Although the film is great, I have a few criticisms. Most of the crowd scenes are poorly done, not realistic or convincing, a fault of the director. Also, the small models for the tank silhouettes at night were disappointing. During the filming, Japan was just starting to be allowed to operate tanks again, so probably the producer could not obtain real tanks, but better, larger models would have helped. Finally, the professor states that the Jurassic period was 2 million years ago instead of 145+ million years ago... this was already known in 1954.
Still, I enjoyed this film much more now in my old age with subtitles than I did in my youth with the dubbed version on TV. Recommended.
