Pitch Black
Don't be afraid of the dark. Be afraid of what's in the dark
When their ship crash-lands on a remote planet, the marooned passengers soon learn that escaped convict Riddick isn't the only thing they have to fear. Deadly creatures lurk in the shadows, waiting to attack in the dark, and the planet is rapidly plunging into the utter blackness of a total eclipse. With the body count rising, the doomed survivors are forced to turn to Riddick with his eerie eyes to guide them through the darkness to safety. With time running out, there's only one rule: Stay in the light.

Underrated
Not a masterpiece by any means, but it was unfairly lampooned when it originally came out, with many deeming it an Aliens rip-off. It is not. The aliens here are quite different.
The movie starts with Riddick (Vin Diesel) waxing poetically while we are treated to some impressive space visuals. Then all hell breaks loose. It is a somewhat artistic alien horror movie, and that is really the end of its similarly to Alien and Aliens.
There are Muslim passengers on the spaceship. Nothing woke in how this was handled, though.
SPOILER: Technically, there is a trans character, but I always considered her just a tomboy who idolized Riddick. She's not there to represent the trans community or anything; the movie predates most of this nonsense. She advances the story by making it easier for the audience find anti-hero Riddick sympathetic and letting Riddick find his empathetic side.
