Stockholm

Based on an absurd but true story

Based on the extraordinary true story of the European city’s 1973 bank heist and hostage crisis that was documented in the 1974 New Yorker article “The Bank Drama” by Daniel Lang. The events grasped the world’s attention when the hostages bonded with their captors and turned against the authorities, giving rise to the psychological phenomenon known as “Stockholm Syndrome.”

Refreshing

The true story of how Stockholm Syndrome began as a thing. Well acted and well shot, with compelling, interesting characters. Both male and female roles were strong and balanced with not a shred of feminazi rhetoric or unconvincing choices. I raised an eyebrow at the wimpy husband of the bank secretary (female lead) telling her on the phone that "I'm not as strong as you," and wondered if they were going to drive the point home. But it was used as her motivation to turn from the Beta husband to the Alpha manly-man that was portrayed in the bank robber. She was strong, and gravitated to the man who was stonger.

No woke. No politicizing, no LGBTPedo, no forced diversity casting, no box-ticking, no feminism, none of that modern crap that usually ruins modern movies. Enjoy without a care. Entertainment is just entertainment, and really should just be that.
