Phone home

While not an original idea, this alien visitor movie is well done. Alas, wokeness is awkwardly and unnecessarily shoehorned into the plot, tarnishing an otherwise excellent movie.

The plot is much like E.T. but with senior citizens in place of kids. There is even a recurring but subtle "phone home" joke. The film paints the government properly negatively, shown as illegally monitoring virtually all communications by Americans.

As for wokeness, there are references to a lesbian daughter. It is done awkwardly, obviously for virtue signalling and propaganda purposes. The message is: "See? All senior citizens fully support the LGBT+ community!". This issue recurs and becomes a plot nuisance.

Overall, it is a surprisingly enjoyable movie. The woke interludes bring it down a notch, though.
