Starship Troopers 3: Marauder

Do you have what it takes to be a Citizen?

The war against the Bugs continues! A Federation Starship crash-lands on the distant Alien planet OM-1, stranding beloved leader Sky Marshal Anoke and several others, including comely but tough pilot Lola Beck. It's up to Colonel/General Johnny Rico, reluctant hero of the original Bug Invasion on Planet P, to lead a team of Troopers on a daring rescue mission.

No spoilers here. I had heard that Starship Troopers 3 is better than 2. It is not. I would even say 3 is a little worse. The acting is bad in 3, specifically the sky marshall and the flight attendant. The director/writer (same person) is to blame for the acting instructions.

The special effects are bad, maybe not all the time, but often enough to be annoying.

The plot would be at home in the very worst Star Trek episodes - as bad as Spock's Brain, Code of Honor, Move Along Home, Threshold, or Extinction. Speaking of which, Jolene Blalock (from Enterprise) is here, and performs admirably.

The wokeness is subtle. Jolene Blalock is model thin here, but her character pulls martial arts moves on muscular military men, a woke trope. Her boyfriend is black. And the movie seems hostile towards Christianity. Any of those things might be overlookable, but I feel that the director/writer did all these things to push the woke agenda. So I give it a 1/5 on the woke scale.

Overall, also a 1/5 rating. Pass.
