Brief History of a Family

The film won the "Best Young Director Project" award at the 2018 Shanghai Film Festival Venture Capital Conference. The film tells the story of a wounding accident on the playground, which makes Yan Shuo, who is taciturn but good at observing, and Tu Wei, who is enthusiastic and straightforward but somewhat willful, become friends. With the deepening of friendship, Yan Shuo got to know Tu Wei's parents. They changed from sympathy to Yan Shuo, a child who lost his mother and was abused by his alcoholic father. Yan Shuo became a frequent visitor to Tu Wei's house, and his father's control over him became tighter. Late one night, Tu Wei's family received the news that Yan Shuo's father had died unexpectedly. How did they respond? Whether Yan's father's death was just an accident as Yan said. The fate of the four people is intertwined.
