In a story set in 1962, one of the main characters is a homosexual. His sexual advances to a straight waiter get harshly rejected. Just so we will understand how wrong it was for the waiter to do that, they immediately show him refusing service to a rich, black couple.
The most evil character - more evil even than the Soviets - is a white married man living pretty much the dream life of conservatives with an uber trad wife, two kids, a home, and a 1962 Cadillac DeVille. I might not have picked up on this if they hadn't put a homosexual front and center, but, yes, it seems that this is a deliberate slandering of not just straight white males but family life.
The lead woman has watery and not too explicit sex with the fish-man. Technically, this is beastiality, but it's a sentient being, so more like sex with an alien.
Aside from those strikes, it's a wonderful film, truly. It is very funky, trying to create a 1960's science fiction movie in modern times. It could have been horrible, but they made it work. It's just too bad it's woke.
