Bumblebee
Every hero has a beginning.
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary yellow VW bug.

Set in 1987 and featuring a car-robot-transformer remeniscient of Herbie the Love Bug, this film dishes up some good 'member berries. The movie is a bit childish, but in a retro way, so it comes off as wholesome nostalgia. I didn't watch any other transformer movies, and I did not feel lost.
The lead girl is white, and her primary interest is fixing up old cars. She is a wholesome tomboy, not a trans. Her black male neighbor hits on her repeatedly and ineptly and she friend-zones him. LOL. The film might actually be subtly anti-woke, so I'll round up my 3.5/5 rating to 4/5.
