Racist crap. Hard pass.
The makers of 2020’s Mortal Kombat adaptation were fully invested in the idea that an R-rating and some brutal fatalities would draw audiences in. As such, staple elements like a solid plot, character development, and adherence to the source material were considered unnecessary. After all, it’s Mortal Kombat.
Then there was Cole, a character written specifically for the movie, who nobody wanted, and felt like a stand-in. The reasoning behind the decision was to find an excuse to knock fan favorite character Johnny Cage out of the film, because he was white. The film nabbed a paltry, laughable $83 million as a result.

Not Woke
Mortal Kombat 2020 was not a woke film by definition. The story and plot did suffer as the vision was not directed toward the game and the acting could have been a little less over-the-top. It's worth a watch on your phone if you're someone you'd rather not be with time to kill. This movie contains no forced ideological pandering nor any indoctrination.

Interesting
The story was not horrible, but there really was no "Tournament" like the '95 movie.
The movie set design for most of the movie was rather bland as they used a lot of industrial/worksite or normal buildings that just make it feel blaa compared to the sets that were built for the '95 set. Visually, it is better , has better fights, and has more characters from the game.
This movie was still missing a few of the characters '95.
It is more serious than the '95 movie and not as much comedy as in '95 movie.
