The Super Mario Bros. Movie

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear overalls.

While working underground to fix a water main, Brooklyn plumbers—and brothers—Mario and Luigi are transported down a mysterious pipe and wander into a magical new world. But when the brothers are separated, Mario embarks on an epic quest to find Luigi.

Extreme Toxic Feminism

Male characters are irrelevant and incompetent, gay, or comedic relief.
Female character is a ninja super hero that can do anything and cannot fail.

All the girls in the audience: You don't need any man and if you don't grow up to be super heroes, you will be measured as failures.

All the boys in the audience: You will fail at everything, your contribution won't matter, you better have a woman to be your better, and you will personally never be required for something to be successful.

The movie should be called "Princess Peach" rather than "Mario Bros". Luigi is the damsel in destress. Mario literally fails at EVERYTHING the whole movie. His 1 success at the end could have been anyone who got the power-up (not dependent upon him). Peach's only failure (beside training Mario) is a voluntary "noble sacrifice" to stop fighting.

WOW!!! I have waited!!!

I have waited SO long for a proper Nintendo movie and The Super Mario Bros. movie CRUSHES all expectations out of the park!!! No wokeness in my opinion and I am pretty hard on that garage as I screen media now-a-days to keep that crap out of my children’s head. Explanations of everything were spot on! A must see for any Nintendo, animation, and non-woke fan.

Good movie but has some flaws

Over all the movie was fine but it has some underlying issues.

Woke wise it has some girlboss Peach but word is Illumination wanted to make her full girl boss and be the hero of the story but Nintendo smaked them down but you can see some bits left over.

The real issues are the fact that Luigi was under utilized in the film and the pacing was too high. It definitely needed another 10-15 minutes to let it breath.

Other than that the film was enjoyable with a lot of references that Mario fans will enjoy.

Wahoo!

This film blew me away by how good it was. What I expected to be woke garbage turned out to be a celebration of my childhood. The only "woke" thing in this movie was portraying princess peach as a strong character; it's kind of ironic because most of the time she's the one being captured. Would highly reccommend, promotes traditional american values and hard work.

Zero wokeness

This is a great movie to take the kids to and you don't have to worry about some hidden agenda.

Ok

Peach was a completely different character. I remember her more as the royal damsel in distress. In this movie she is more of a business Girl Boss type running the world. She was so amazing at all the "trials" it was a wonder why she spent the time to train up Mario in the first place. And in the end it came down to power-ups not much more.

Not Woke - Amazing Story-Telling

The new Super Mario Bros. Movie is spot on in plethora of ways.

Firstly, the story-telling in the movie is absolutely great. They take the "Mario" universe and put a great spin on the Bowser versus Mario conflict while introducing real-world elements and 'Mario-verse' elements seamlessly. No spoilers, but if you're a fan of the Mario games, you will love this.

Secondly, zero woke elements. There's a mixture of inclusion, togetherness and morality but none of it is forced into the story for the sake of making a point. To me, that is the primary indicator of "woke" elements. The sheer fact it doesn't berate you for not accepting forced ideology is outstanding given it's release in 2023.

Lastly, the visual effects as well as the audio are next level good. Everything is crisp, well animated and well above par for a professional development studio. The direction of the movie is fluid, it is broken down into traditional "acts" so following the story is seamless but not boring.

6/5 Stars. The extra star is for the Star-Power you'll receive after enjoying this film. Definitely a Must-See.

Gamers would appreciate this. Non-gamers would miss a lot

The wokeness is from a singular element. That is, the princess who needed rescuing in the video games has become the wise, strong one who led the weaker male characters to victory. If I'm not mistaken, the character of the princess originated in the video game, Donkey Kong. She was always the rescued one as the games progressed through generations.
That said, I would've missed a lot of what was going on if I didn't have my daughter and son-in-law watching it with me. They explained the nuances that carried over from the games. My grandsons enjoyed it thoroughly (ages 3 & 5). I won't be watching it twice but I didn't mind watching it with the family.

Super Woke Bros

The toxic wokeness present on this movie doesn't prevent it from being very good and enjoyable but it is all over the place. It seems the American cut is most impacted by it than the Japanese version but I haven't watched that one. Mario can hardly be considered the protagonist here as he solves nothing and all male characters are silly or ridiculous. Peach is amazing of course and she needs no one to help her.

Absolutely Woke, But Still Not Terrible

This is definitely woke. Right from the start Mario and Luigi are complete bumbling idiots and it never changes. Peach is a complete Mary Sue girl power badass. Luigi is now the damsel in distress and Peach runs the whole kingdom since the Toads made her their leader.....because reasons. The trials obstacle course Mario fails at repeatedly even with a power up and NEVER EVEN COMPLETES! Peach says she completed it right away but it's because she grew up there. Then why have the trials at all since all the Toads were born there and with that reasoning they should too. Her and Mario then go to leave on their quest and all the Toads ask who Mario is, her response, "he's not important" In fact the whole movie the only time Mario is not a failure is with a power up. Luigi spends the entire movie as a coward sniveling in the corner and only finally redeems himself when he and Mario defeat Bowser, but only with an invincibility power up, that Peach provides them with. Peach never needs a power up, for anything, she is perfect. This should have been called the Super Mary Sue Peach Movie. Despite all this it's still not the worst movie ever. The animation is very good and there is a lot of hidden easter eggs for long time Mario game players. Younger children will probably enjoy it more. Just be aware there is a heavy dose of girls better than boys messaging in this one.
