Lord of the Flies in space
Panned by most IMDB reviews, this movie is not so bad. The reviewers think they are smarter than the writer, calling the teens' behavior in the film absurdly irrational.
Deeper thought will reveal that the "Lord of the Flies" behavior makes sense. They were drugged for years to not have the emotions of puberty. Therefore, the young men were basically man-childs, mentally. Then they stopped taking the drug and these man-childs were plunged into full teen testosterone insanity all at once. They had never before experienced emotions of sexual attraction, sexual jealousy, and sexual competitiveness. Therefore, they had never learned the filtering that we must all learn lest we wind up in prison.
True, they were test tube bred to be super smart. However, the sterile environments in the spaceship and previously on Earth would have stunted their intellectual development. Imagine a child living in a world with no mother, no father, no Sun, no animals, not even some mud to play in. Even their caregivers were in hazmat suits.
Recall that children's average IQ in the US fell from 100 before the COVID pandemic to 78 afterwards... borderline retarded! Masks and the sterile environment of home quarantine are the main causes cited in the studies.
So the events of the film make sense given its premise. However, ultimately the film is not all that entertaining. It's an average film, not horrible but not great.
Nothing woke, though.
