Chinese propaganda

The wokeness here is not the standard American/European wokeness but rather the endgame of wokeness: stop your whining, your Party leaders need you to sacrifice yourselves for the Greater Good, thank you very much. Throwing bodies at the problem reminds me of the film Chernobyl. That is the Communist way.

Spoilers follow.

In the movie, the Sun is rapidly expanding, which has an obvious parallels to climate change, so that is another neo-woke aspect. Whereas fascist governments need a human enemy against which to unite the people, Communist governments need a non-human global threat to unite all people in a globalist system from which no one can escape.

The plot makes no more sense than Hollywood blockbuster sci-fi movies, which surprised me. Here, 91% of Americans oppose the only way to save the world. They are willing to suicide-bomb themselves to prove their point. To control thousands of giant rocket engines to save the Earth, the good guys need the Internet, but the Internet's root hub (wut?) is of course in China (wut?) and it's down. A brash, obnoxious American leader is worried that time is running out for the Chinese to reboot the Internet, so he wants to abort the rocket plan, but an elderly Chinese Communist party leader points his cane at him and shouts him down in the style of "You shall not pass!!!", yelling that his people will not fail. He is, of course, correct, but his people succeed only because of the most implausible Deus ex machina "AI" intervention.

There are lots of scientific errors. The space elevator was cool, though.

42% of the reviews on IMDB are 10/10, around that of The Lord of the Rings movies. I call Communist voting shinanigins.

In summary, this Chinese blockbuster is Chinese propaganda. This is the second movie, but it's a prequel, so order of viewing is not important. However, it may not be worth viewing at all.
