The blood war is on.
In the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease, giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence. As they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet, who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans.

1. The idiotic existence of two editions/versions of the movie: one is the "Theatrical version (88 minutes)" & the other is the "Unrated Extended edition (94 minutes)." The extra minutes give Violet more context on why she is doing this & things about the virus, which is good for the understanding of the story (despite many plotholes). But (as far as I know) Sony decided that the extra few minutes might make the movie less action-oriented.
2. About the hemoglophagia virus: The results of being infected by the virus are 2 longer teeth (vampiric), sharper eyesight, more acute hearing, stronger bones, faster healing, sensitivity to light (they see better in the dark; I guess that's what it means), & A LOT SHORTER LIFE SPAN. Despite the advantages, one would "naturally think" that "Hey, the shorter life span & it being easy & fast-spreading is bad for humanity. And we should find a cure fast & meanwhile we should use protective gear to keep others & ourselves safe from the virus." BUT NO. Instead, some people infected with the virus form "resistance groups" 😒 to stand against the murder of the people infected with the virus & those who are probably trying to find a cure for their "race"...
