In 2019, with the passage of the new Ainu Law, the Ainu people were clearly stated to be an indigenous people of Japan, but there is still little recognition of their history and background in this country. The word 'utasa' in the Akan Yukara 'Utasa Festival' means 'to commune with each other' in Ainu language.
