Bloody

I didn't watch this when it first came out, because the stylized slow motion gore cuts annoyed me (more than repulsed me). There is extreme nudity, depravity, violence, sadism, and gay stuff. If you can get past all that, it's a gripping tale.

Later seasons, where the name changes slightly, it becomes more than slightly woke, maybe a 3/5. For example, there are a couple of female warriors, but it's not like there is one as formidable as Xena: Warrior Princess, so I'm finding it hard to believe they would last as long as they did in battle. Oh, actually "Xena" IS in the show, but as a noble, not a warrior. But the main problem with later seasons is that a gay couple hogs a lot of the spotlight.

Also, they keep replacing actors, including Spartacus.

Extremely violent and a bit ridiculous

It`s a far cry from the original Spartacus with Kirk Douglas, which is a great film, based on a real historical event. This one, like the tv series Rome, goes back and forth between explicit sex scenes and extreme gory violence, and there is always a lot of swearing. There is a gay romance in it, which is pretty woke.
