Wokeness in the first minutes of the series

Guess not even Tim Burton can escape the wokeness disease. I just started the series, when characters get intruduced and one of the supporting ones is a black bald mermaid and states that she's royalty. Netflix copying the worst of disney and succesfully making it even worse. Not much of a surprise here.
I'll update my review if necessary once I had seen more.

Entertaining show, only mildly woke

I’m only 4 episodes in, so I can’t make a definitive call yet. There is some mild wokeness such as occasional references to the “patriarchy”, and one of the characters has “two moms”. That said, it’s not enough to ruin it, and it’s a really fun show with some fun characters, visual effects, and great acting by Jenna Ortega.

Entertaining in the Tim Burton fashion.

The woke level in this series is so low that it looks like a minor concession by Tim Burton to the Woke activists that are lurking around Hollywood threatening to attack with propaganda. One character alluded to his "two moms." Other than that, I didn't notice anything woke.

Surprising wokeless?

This show is suprisingly deficient in wokeness, especially considering the age group it advertises to. Have seen 4 episodes I believe. Dark comedy. Entertaining. Burton does a good job showcasing very subtle expressions from the lead character. We'll see where this goes. Usually this type of show gets "popular" and then the production caves to wokeness is the next season(s) (i.e. Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, etc). Good Luck Wednesday.

Good acting, nice storytelling, benefits from Adam's family traits

The acting is great, the story is catching. Woke sh*t emerges at frequent occasions, disrupting the scenario because always forced-pushed without the need of it ("mansplaining", "patriarchy",...). Luckily, Wednesday's cynism allows to lighten this woke part, but it remains too much imo. Still recommends it as the story is great and you can get used to those punctual woke punchlines

Entertaining. Visually superb. Unexpectedly balanced.

Lots of girl-boss moments in the beginning, worst offender being Wednesday herself.
Turns out, she's wrong. Often. Stubbornly so. And her actions cause damages to those around her.
So yeah, girl-boss.

Also, I wonder about casting Guzman as Gomez. The original Gomez (John Astin) was not half-bad looking, and Raul Julia had utterly stupid, Mastroianni levels of suave. Morticia is still portrayed by Catherine Zeta-Jones, who was a smoke-show in the previous century.
The whole thing gives off a "what did she see in him, is she a gold digger" vibe, instead of the much more enjoyable "still crazy after all these years" of the original. Possible female pandering that, astonishingly, ruins a good thing.

The show itself is entertaining, concise, somewhat predictable, but still good fun.
