Doctor Who

Space. For all.

The Doctor is a Time Lord: a 900 year old alien with 2 hearts, part of a gifted civilization who mastered time travel. The Doctor saves planets for a living—more of a hobby actually, and the Doctor's very, very good at it.

Woke AF

If there is anything be woke about, the latest deconstruction of Doctor Who has found it and regurgitated it from the rotten pages of Tumblr. Whatever greatness Dr Who was, the last series here is not. Avoid at all costs.

I loved Doctor Who but it's been destroyed

It's always been somewhat woke. With social justice episodes thrown in about every 3rd episode or so. But the last couple seasons I watched were so bad that I think I'm done with the franchise. And that's sad because I really like Dr. Who as a concept.

Just don't...

My 0 rating is for the most recent series' of Doctor Who.

Since the Doctor Who reboot there have been many woke elements, but most of them were quite mild until the Peter Capaldi seasons...
A classic moment for me was the episode with spiders (a Jodie series Doctor), where she angrily berates the loud, obnoxious American tycoon (obviously symbolic of Trump) who shoots a huge, dying spider to put it out of its misery. To solve the final issues, she then goes and locks ALL the other spiders away where they will either die of starvation or suffocation. (I can't remember exactly which.) The irony is so thick any viewer with half of a brain could walk on it!

Looking at previous seasons of the reboot- Matt Smith, David Tennant etc, there really are a few woke moments, but they generally don't take up too much focus.

I used to love this show before it was destroyed ...

Its downfall was during the reign of the 12th Doctor (Capaldi), and continues with the 13th (Whittaker).

All the Doctors previous were okay (1 to 11). The first five are by far the best but it's hard to find those episodes online. You have to buy them or go to obscure sites like Dailymotion.

How has it gone woke? It pushes feminism and misandry hard. It's unwatchable now. Go back to the first 5 Doctors if you want a good science fiction series. Back then it was great.

TL;DR: gets worse with Time (Lords), watch the older stuff

I'm rating the newest batch, assuming most readers to be young'uns.

Also because I finally got around to see what the protest was about.

New-Who is atrocious. It's uninspired, slop propaganda writing at its worst. Or best. Pinnacle. The agenda was clear when the Doctor got to be a woman, then a black foppish man. Both are flat, amateur actors, and their companions are no better.

Honestly, I watched less than 2 hours worth of these new series. More like desecration rituals. All the leftist talking points.

The revival series do have some merit. Eccleston is a solid actor, works brilliantly with Piper, and benefits from excellent scripts.
Tennant does a good job of bringing together traits from the previous Doctors, and has a few smashing episodes (Weeping Angels, anyone?). His comeback was a sell-out, though.
I didn't really follow Smith's and Capaldi's tenures; good actors, but the show was going to shite, and I just didn't bother, so, maybe some good in there.

The classic series are definitely 10s out of 10 in my book (nostalgia alert). Pertwee's Doctor is fully inhuman, going from disarmingly child-like to monstrously calculating in a jiffy, and Baker's is the incarnation of madness-with-a-method. And a scarf.
The show did flounder in the 80s, but we had high expectations at the time; it probably was still pretty decent.

I guess an apt comparison in the US would be original Star Trek vs Lower Star Trek. TOS had some many things to make fun about, and yet, well, the dog's bollocks.
