Not woke

No themes or elements. But it does appear to be pro china, especially with meiying's uncle out supermaning Jason Statham's character. 2 white characters are "evil" and forced interracial couple, although it was merely a couple second scene. A couple of carryover token characters from the original.

Diverse City

Not just token BIPOC/DIE casting, but whites were a minority. Some zoomer one liners. This was a seattle/silicon valley progressive cast based on Fortnite. But nothing indoctrinating or woke.

Not woke for a Gunn movie

Overall casting is fine, but an awfully lot of black actors portraying Spanish country characters. A few scenes of "strong woman" were forced. Waller actress is still insufferable. A few scenes went from funny to beyond silly. Jumps the shark (pun intended). A couple of lines anti-wokers will like.

Not woke

Interesting direction and twist ending depending on which version you see (without Woll). No woke themes. The woke was limited to the DIE casting; got to get that token black character (when the main lead character is black) and hispanic/latino. But it's taken place in NYC, so the casting may be accurate. Super odd how Zoey appears to have gone from 10-years-old in the original to 20 years old in this sequel when 1 has passed, IRL and the movie.

Not anymore woke than the 1st

They didn't inject any gay characters. The casting choice for general was super odd and a DIE hire though. Had a good balance between both sides. Great SFX.

Not woke

At least no indoctrination or elements. Just an overly diverse cast, especially when compared to the 80s version. Seems to be more and more typical with Hollywood. Token black characters left and right. At least Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, and Jason Momoa are well known actors and draws. You can't say the same about the rest which are purely DIE hires.

Blum likes his diversity hires

Not as bad as reviews made it out to be. The extent of the woke was limited to proper pronouns for a cat and diversity background characters. Also, 2 characters from the original were made black. And one was interracial. Typical for Blum

Esther's back...

...And she leaves the woke behind. For the most part. No elements other than some interpretations that could be made if you overanalyze. Token black character, although very minor with few lines.

Live by the sword

Some token POC casting but may be reverse woke considering the roles they were cast for. Grimm fans may like the "token" black detective. A little low budget, but better than made-for-tv. No woke though.
