Decent actors in unambitious sci-fi
does not make a good movie.
Action scenes are so-so, script is highly predictable, photography lacks tonal direction or unity. Except for most people being beautiful. Old-times Hollywood.
1995 MTV culture is the root of woke. White male characters are all shades of weak, although in charge and dictatorial. The heroic resistance looks like a Benetton ad.
Nothing explicitely said, though. Such were the times.

In the animated series, Sithandra was white/brownish, but in the movie she's black.
Although the animated series barely has a connection with each of their episodes & Aeon died multiple times in the series, so I don't know what to think about this "change" in the movie. And I don't think the series is connected to the movie for lots of changes happening and new characters' appearances in the movie, like Aeon's original name being "Katherine," which never happened in the series. Trevor has a brother, etc.
And Marton Csokas's acting during action sequences was not that good.
