Poor Excellent

I decided to give this 1983 slasher a watch based on it's somewhat cult status, I should of never bothered. The acting is horrendous, the kills are pretty tame and it's really just a poor 80's generic slasher. The only thing that's sets it apart is the extremely woke for the time aspects. There's no way to really review it without spoilers so be warned...The entire premise is rather generic a father and 2 children are involved in an accident at a summer camp and only 1 child survives. The killer is very obvious right from the start so not sure why they even bothered to hide the identity. The survivor is the young boy who is adopted and spends his childhood pretending to be a girl instead. There is a flashback scene revealing the dead father to be gay in bed with another man in front of his 2 kids. This results in multiple scenes of the boy pretending to be a girl fooling another boy into liking him and making out with him. There is also a disturbing homoerotic feel to the entire movie. Many scenes of the male campers shirtless, in very short shorts or half midriff shirts. They are constantly jumping all over each other and just generally acting rather oddly. There is a scene where a bunch of the male campers strip naked and go skinny dipping with just a group of males together. In contrast there are almost no scenes of any of the female campers in anything revealing at all. Even if you like old school slashers I would recommend staying far away from this.
