Pha-Q woke's Reviews
A Finish horror comedy that desperatly wants to be the new Gremlins. The lead teens look like they are well into their 20's. Some truly terrible
acting. The creature FX both practical and CG look bad, the gore fx are ok but nothing special. It wants to be an 80's homage but it just doesn't
work. The humor and constant little 80's gags are more eye rolling than funny. I didn't see anything woke but I only made it to 30 minutes and
couldn't take it anymore.

I'm in the minority here but I found this painfully predictible, boring and unoriginal. It just takes the done to death fatal attraction trope
then throws in the monkey's paw to make it supernatural and voilà rehashed Gen Z slop. The acting is ok most of the time but certain scenes that are supposed to be creepy or scary are so overacted they are just comical. The male lead is so annoyingly beta and pathetic it's hard to watch. You know exactly what's going to happen right from the start and how it will end, there is not one original thing in this. As for woke this is clearly meant to be a message on 'toxic masculinity', female victimhood and consent. The male is meant to be the villain portrayed as the emotional weakling who has no problem taking advantage of the female when given the opportunity. Nobody in this is likable in any way least of all the male lead.

Group of white friends has the token out of place DEI black female. There are environmentalist comments scattered throughout the dialogue. The acting is embarrassingly bad. The story and dialogue are so bad I hope it was written by A.I. so a writer doesn't have to take credit for this garbage. Speaking of A.I. this is another movie that heavily used A.I. generated images for all the shark scenes and as expected it looks terrible. The characters are unlikable and stupid. The ridiculous slow motion shots. This is another movie that's so bad it will probably end up on Rifftrax at some point.

While there is nothing woke in this it is a terrible movie. It looks like a 90's made for sci-fi channel no budget movie. The CG is terrible but
even worse the extensive green screen backgrounds. They are so bad there are visible lines around the actors where they were cut and pasted into scenes. Nothing is blended together and the actors look inserted or pasted into the scene. Sometimes actors seem to 'float' in the scene
and have no substance. The killer whale is inconsistent and changes size constantly sometimes within the same scene. It's so bad and distracting it renders it unwatchable for anything other than to laugh at and make fun of.

A movie that feels like a hack director trying his best to make a Guy Ritchie style movie and completely failing. I would like to say the acting
is bad but I think that's what they were going for. Everything is delivered in the most emotionless dull monotone voices. It's like they gave
everyone Prozac before every scene. The humor is so forced and unnatural, all the best parts are in the trailer. The writing makes little sense with a lot left unexplained are seemingly unrealistic. The 'heroes' are super powered and seemingly invincible, they take out an entire army without a scratch. The bad guys are comically inept and the heroes are never in any real danger, they barely even get dirty or a hair out of place. The lead says she's a lawyer, how is she able to very easily just dismantle this billionaire criminal organization at will? How is she so powerful and able to pull off any of this stuff? Don't know. This billionaire crime boss has his own island but a group of 6 men are able to import mountains of weapons, supplies and vehicles without him knowing. They are able to run drills and practice runs for seemingly weeks without anyone on the island noticing anything. Then months later when they go back everything is still there and set up to work just like they left it and nobody on the island has stumbled upon any of it. This crime boss seems to be completely powerless and ineffectual. How did he get to be a billionaire crime boss without having
powerful friends or know people. He has all this money but his militia seems to be the most inept group of street thugs he could find, no professional mercenaries to be found. The smug annoying genius girlboss with all her male minions saving the other girlboss
from the evil billionaire male. A lot of DEI though it is an internationally set movie so maybe not as unrealistic. Then there is the disturbingly
gay seeming couple that is the 2 male leads. It's never explicitly stated that they are gay but the amount of gay innuendo and jokes thrown around between them are far beyond what you will see from straight men.

A mix of documentary style and traditional filmmaking. The acting is good and while there is a little blood and gore the movie relies more on
atmosphere and building tension for it's scares and there are some creepy disturbing scenes. There's a few jump scares but not much so if you like cheap jump scares as 'horror' then this is not for you. Pretty good story revolving around folk horror though there's some shoddy CG that sticks out sometimes. For a low budget indie project though it's pretty good. The only woke is a token DEI casting choice for one of the group of 4 YouTube streamers. She's a minor secondary character and hardly on screen I almost gave it a woke free but it's there so I will give it a 1 Recommended if you like your horror with a little less blood and guts and more atmospheric buildup.

This shark movie is as generic, cliché and paint by numbers as it gets. Group of annoying, DEI checkmark gen z friends on vacation get trapped by a shark. Another movie where everybody is unlikable an irritating so who cares if they all die. It's the usual watered down PG-13 horror movie
aimed at teens. Once they get into the caves the movie shot so darkly you can't tell what's happening most of the time. The shark is unrealistic
and doesn't act like any shark in existence. Out of a group of 5 friends there is one white male. No surprise he is the dumbest man-child in the
group who literally almost cries when he sees someone's bloody knee from a small scrape. Normally I would give this a 1 for woke but the white male character is so comically stupid and childish it really feels like such a deliberately woke move. This is terrible and not even worth watching for shark fans.

This is a British creature horror movie mostly taking place in an underground cave system. The acting ranges from ok to a bit poor, but nothing awful. It's the usual stupid characters doing stupid unrealistic things. The underground scenes in the cave has very distracting lighting. It should be pitch black except for the flashlights and sometimes it is but others there is so much ambient light the flashlight beams are almost invisible. It's a minor complaint but it does get distracting. There's some decent creature FX but I kept thinking something was a bit off. It almost looks like 2 different people directed, 1 for the actors and 1 that did all the fx and creature shots. There were no wide shots anywhere
and most of the creature shots are separate and not in the same scene as any of the actors. It feels like disconnected somehow and doesn't feel like they are in the same room or even the same environment. It's hard to visualize the scenes and what's taking place as a whole because there's everything's too close up with no wide establishing shots anywhere. I originally thought this was just some lackluster directing or lack of budget to blend the CG together. However after watching the movie and doing a little searching I found out this movie heavily utilized A.I. to generate all the creature fx. It all makes sense why everything looked off. This explains a lot. Nothing woke that I saw. It's somewhat watchable if you really like creature horror but be prepared for a heavy dose of A.I. slop.

Claims it's inspired by a true story at the start. Turns out the directors friend flew a helicopter that was shot at went into a spiral and
recovered without crashing and the director decided to fabricate a movie that's complete fiction and based on nothing, so total b.s. The acting is pretty poor and there isn't really any story to speak of. For some reason they decided to blare awful rap music over a bunch of scenes that's so loud you can't hear anything else plus it doesn't even match the scenes. There's some decent action scenes and the movie looks good enough and is well filmed. It appears to have a decent budget so it's a shame this didn't turn out better than it did. The characters are too annoying especially the dumb as dirt contractor that's along for the ride. The only real woke would be some DEI casting especially in the completely miscast tiny Asian female baddass soldier who is borderline girlboss even though she's not the highest ranking one there. Might be worth a one time watch if you really like military style movies.

College the daughter attends is packed full of DEI though considering this a liberal arts college it's probably more accurate than DEI. However the new love interest for the white daughter is naturally a black male. Father's ex military friend is a black male. The writing gets a lot worse in the sequel. Nothing is explained about who this group is or how they can pull off the things they do. The father knows what they are doing but doesn't report them and just leaves the rest of the victims to suffer? How is the FBI not all over the place looking for them? They appear to have unlimited funds and resources but how, and from where? They have an island with full living facilities, boats and cars. They are able to track and locate this family and where the daughter is attending college. They are able to seemingly hack into a ride share company to track and steal the daughters pick up call. This ex military father goes to retrieve his daughter with no backup, no tactical gear or supplies and only a single handgun. Seriously. They main plot point from the first one is never explained. They are kidnapping girls because their women are sterile due to water supply contamination. They are on an island in the middle of nowhere. How is it contaminated and from where? The island we are shown to be inescapable in the first movie is revealed to be well within swimming distance to land. For some reason these survivalist's don't seem to like guns, if they did they could of killed the father 20 times over as he refuses to pick up any of the knives, crossbows or any other weapons, instead resorting to ridiculous cartoonish traps that he seems to have had plenty of time to set up by the dozen. There is no reason for this garbage to exist. Watch the first one if your bored maybe but pretend this garbage never happened.
Spoiler...this completely unnecessary sequel ends with the feminist power move of having the daughter get to kill the white male villain.
