Pha-Q woke's Reviews
Really the only thing woke is the token black character. This should of been much more fun than it was. There are no real scares and relied too much on cheap jump scares. The acting is decent, the story is the done before rabid animal attacks variety. The real highlight is the excellent gore FX and some decent kills otherwise pretty average. The biggest weak point is the decision to use an actor in a suit to play the part of the chimp. It is obvious from the first scene on. Everything is off, the movements and actions scream actor and not a real animal. The writing is another weak spot. The plot requires the characters to act like morons and victims the entire time. The house is full of things that could be used effectively as weapons yet not once does anybody grab anything or attempt to fight back. They conveniently ignore or turn their backs to the chimp multiple times to allow it to sneak up on them. Also a lot of the action by the chimp seem implausible or unrealistic. Several scenes meant to be shocking or scary had me laughing instead. The comical cliff dive scene comes to mind. It's not the worst horror movie but don't go in expecting much.

This is a very difficult show to give a woke rating on. Apparently it's meant to be a satire of extreme woke NPR radio station workplace. So it features every single extremely woke trope and buzzword you can think of and every character is an extreme caricature of some degree of woke. The problem is they don't really go far enough in making fun of these people or showing the insanity. It just feels like you're watching a very woke show. It's not funny just very annoying and every character is a disgusting terrible loudmouth SJW. If your not going to make fun of them or actively show how stupid they are than is it really
a satire or just a woke show? These types of people exist and watching and listening to them go about their daily insanity isn't funny it's just irritating. I'm giving this a 2 for woke only because it's not actually meant to be woke but make fun of it, yet somehow still manages to feel like it's woke. If you can tolerate these types of people you may think it's funny, I see enough of these idiots in real life I don't need it in my spare time as well.

episode one opens in Quebec with 2 black police officers and of course the female one is in charge. Very small black population there but sure whatever. The lead female is an obese screeching harpy who I instantly hated. Based on a true story but actually has pretty
much nothing to do with the true story. Another modern show loaded down with unlikable characters. Every single character falls into 1 of 2 categories, either mean nasty assholes, or cowering pathetic idiots. Why must everything now have horrible characters. The attempts at comedy aren't funny and there are so many scenes that are just uncomfortable and cringe. The acting is fine and it's a well made miniseries. If you don't mind the bad characters you may like this better than I did.
The true story is probably interesting but this is just terrible and after the first episode I just didn't care about most of the characters and actively hated the rest. I had no desire to watch the rest of this. Other than the opening DEI placement I didn't really see anything else to
consider woke in the first episode.

It's not bad enough we have an endless parade of unnecessary reboots of perfectly good old shows but now we have a show about an unnecessary reboot of a fake old show. Seriously? No surprise this was canned after only 1 season. I watched 2 episodes of this crap. How do you have this many capable, funny actors and churn out something so painfully cringe and unfunny. 2 episodes and not one single laugh, although there was a lot of eye rolling. Yet another show
populated by annoying unlikable characters. All the usual woke is present, mixed race couples, a lot of DEI overrepresentation, gay background or secondary characters. The body positive SJW new young female writer that is clever, smart and knows what she's doing. The rich old white male showrunner who's clueless out of touch and just an all around douche. Don't bother, it's not worth wasting time on.

I knew this was aimed more a younger audience but I wanted to see what it's like. First of all the fact this exists gets it a woke rating. For those that don't know Ms Marvel has been around since the 70's and is Carol Danvers. A great character with a rich backstory and history. Then in Marvel's age of woke they replaced her with this pathetic teen Muslim DEI character. So choosing to make this show with the woke version while ignoring decades of character building and history is peak woke. I only made it 1 full episode so this is all based on that. Every second of that episode screams 'we are minorities!!' If you didn't know any better you could think this wasn't even set in the U.S. It's a DEI extravaganza in casting. The lead at one point makes a casual racist comment about how 'It's not brown girls that save the world'. Her school counselor is flamboyant and pretty obviously gay. There is a scene with a
white male teacher mispronouncing her name. This is yet another
show where everyone character is unlikable. The parents are very annoying and actually get mad at and berate her driving instructor for failing her after she literally smashes into his car during the driving test. The lead is an annoying whiney constant victim as soon as she doesn't get whatever she wants. The writing is terrible, the first episode is her trying to convince her parents to let her go to Avengercon. One of her moms biggest issues is she doesn't want her to go out dressed in a tight skimpy outfit. She doesn't even try to show them the outfit which is anything but skimpy, it's literally covered head to toe and not tight at all. Avengercon looks like some kind of sketchy tent set up in an alley somewhere. Disney clearly put no budget into this at all, everything
looks so cheap. The big Avengercon scene at the end of the first episode looks laughably bad. This has the look and feel of a low budget CW or Nickelodeon show it's so childish and cheesy. Then for some odd reason they completely changed the basics of the character from the source material. Her powers are different, the source of her powers and origin are completely different it may as well be a totally different character. I mean if you can't even get the basics of your adaptation right whey even bother, and just because something is aimed at a younger audience doesn't mean you have to flush quality control down the toilet.

Well 5 minutes in and I already absolutely hate the kid and want the character to die off. Spoilers follow but it's all in the first 10 minutes anyway. Movie tells us the white male is an abusive, racist p.o.s. who hates the kid, except it never shows any of that on screen other than 1 loud verbal fight with the kids mother. She than violently attacks and bashes him over the head and left for unconscious. We are not shown or told why. She leaves the idiot moron child behind and escapes. The male comes to and goes outside with a gun. Reasonable after being attacked. The unhinged and apparently mentally deranged child shoots an arrow at him narrowly missing. TWICE! He does nothing but tries to talk the kid down, even though he's holding a gun and the kid is
actively trying to shoot him. Sounds like a violent abusive person to me. The kid than shoots him and dances around singing and celebrating like an absolute psychotic future serial killer. That's not a good start. The writing is pretty bad. A character in a dinner is acting shady talking on the phone and writes down a meeting place and time on a napkin, then immediately crumbles it up and leaves it on his plate and leaves. WTF was the point of writing it down then? This is boring pretentious filmmaking at it's worst. Seems all males are either idiots, violent criminals or both and just all around bad. The females are all innocent victims just trying to survive. 45 minutes of stupidity was all I could take.

I really wanted to like this but the first episode alone is full of problems. The acting is all over the place with some truly terrible
performances by some of the actors. The story and writing make no sense and are completely unbelievable. We are told he is a genius app
developer but his app seems to be garbage. It doesn't' do anything any random analyst wouldn't be able to do. It's also hard to believe
an agency like this would be populated by a small handful of random people and not have a bunch of agents and massive government oversight like in episode 1. Suddenly in episode 2 there are people everywhere and the agency seems to be much larger out of nowhere. Then there is the problems presented by the shows ability to loop and reset time. This allows for pretty much any character to be killed at random because the time loop just resets and it doesn't matter. This ruins a lot of the tension and danger. You just know as soon as anyone dies or something really bad happens that means they won't stop the disaster and time will be reset. It kind of makes everything pointless eventually. In the very first scene we already have the mixed race couple. There is a casual racist anti-white minority victimhood comment. The agency recruiter is an Indian woman. Head of the agency is female. This is yet another DEI minority extravaganza where white seems to be a minority except if its a villain. Given this was cancelled after 2 seasons with no ending 2 episodes was enough for me.

This is based on the first episode only. There was nothing woke in the first episode. Based on a Korean webcomic this is a very well made
show, the acting is good and the FX are mostly good but look a little off sometimes. The issue I had is in the first episode everything is so
confusing and nothing makes any sense or is explained at all. Things happen and characters show up that it feels like you should know. I actually stopped at 20 minutes in to make sure I was watching the first episode and again at 30 minutes to see if this was a sequel to something else. It's so hard to follow and constantly feels like your watching the second season or at least half way through the first season of a show. There is some potential here and maybe if you know the source material it may be really good but after 1 episode I was so lost and just had no interest in going any further.

A somewhat original concept. It's basically a variation on found footage with most of the movie taking place in 1 room with Pratts character
and an AI judge, the rest of the scenes are various camera footage shots both past and live. The acting is pretty good and it's a look at a
conceivable and disturbing future with AI and constant surveillance at every turn. The writing and story are for the most part well thought out
and implemented with a few stretches toward the end. The entire motive and plot for everything when all revealed at end has some holes in it but not enough to ruin it in my opinion. Probably one of the biggest weak points is some shoddy bad looking CG particularly in pretty much any shot with the hover bike. It looks poor at best and downright comical other times. It's a small thing and this is still a very entertaining
and watchable movie. As for woke free....not exactly. There is a strong minority casting presence in general and the nonwhite female officer's acting is just not very good. Searching her reveals she is a boxer not an actor and has been in only 3 other movies I've never heard of before this, than gets a major role. Sounds a little like a DEI hire. Without spoiling a major plot point there is a setup for a mixed race coupling to get
that box checked that seems to be in absolutely every single thing now. The villain is pretty obvious early on and checks the woke box as well. It's hard to say more without giving away spoilers.

Nothing woke. Based on a true story that took place between 2006-2009. This deserved to get more attention than it did. Extremely well made, visceral, gritty and uncomfortable war movie. Excellent acting and cinematography. Great FX for a budget of only 18 million. This is close quarters down and dirty filmmaking at it's finest. Highly recommended and also to look up the true story as well. What happened here is completely avoidable and shows yet again the incompetency of government and should piss you off. Make sure to watch through the credits for interviews with the real soldiers involved.
