Part 1 of a 3 part series. This is basically a play on the 90's slasher horror. The acting is ok and some oddities aside it doesn't too bad a job at portraying the 90's. It fells off in a few places and the actors seem like what they are, modern kids pretending to be 90's kids. The blood and gore is a little above average and there's some decent kills. The story is interesting if a bit of a cliché. The writing isn't too bad but there's a few lazy moments like music used that didn't come out until after 1994, using AOL dialup at the same time as talking on the phone. There are almost no adults around ever which is really out of place. There
is also a little overuse of music like they wanted to reinforce the 90's feel. They also state an established reason why and who the killer target, except there is at least 1 or 2 kills that break that rule. It is however crazy woke happy. The two main leads are a white sister and black brother, you never once see the parents. The black brother is obsessed with a white cheerleader. The sister is a lesbian. There is DEI overrepresentation everywhere especially considering the small town. Lead female is the typical violent, unhinged aggressive modern strong female type that the movie wants you to like except she's a horrible person. Multiple
lesbian kissing and make out scenes and the lesbian relationship is at the core of the plotline. Spoiler..........there is only 2 straight white people in the 5 core group members, guess which are the only 2 killed. It's somewhat watchable and entertaining if you can put up with the woke nonsense. If you're considering watching this I would suggest reading my review for the final part before starting.
