Nothing really too woke other than the now common in everything mixed race couple. The acting is ok but Davidson just isn't that good
of an actor. The FX are great, the writing is mostly good though there are a few instances of WTF was that. The first half hour or so is very slow and boring and I was tempted to give up but it does pick up considerably and I finished to the end. I kept feeling like I've seen
this premise before but I'm not sure. Lots of gore and body horror but there is a little too much random only for shock value scenes. There are
no real scares to be found but it is a fairly solid movie worth a one time watch. The only other annoying thing is throughout the entire film there
are background tv's with the weather on talking about a major hurricane going up the coast and how unusual it is and blaming it on climate change. It serves no purpose to the movie, other than 1 short scene at the end where it's crazy storming for about 30 seconds then it's completely calm again. It's very odd and out of place not to mention unrealistic and only seems to exist to push the climate change hoax. While that doesn't count toward the woke score it is a political agenda.
