A hundreds movie whose theme is women, rape, bad men... in isolation that's not too bad but in the 2020's you know why it was made.
The plot is incredibly contrived. the main protagonist is supposed to be smart but does very stupid things. and the end doesn't feel earned.
Note: I began writing this shortly before the movie ultimate ending. And after I saw it I increased wokeness and diminished the note. here is why...
--SO SPOILERS COMING--
So she actually did it... yes, the movie is that morally bankrupt. I belived the dude did it for her or perhaps the benevolent black father figure but no ! which mean all the good men are actually completely useless.
since this is not a true story, everything was actually manufactured for it to be a chad murder fantasy. I don't give max wokeness because; yes, those things may happen.
And also using the praying mantis as metaphore is quite stupid.

I'll go with the bad-man storyline
Hey! I saw this film a while back. Just noticing other reviews on this film, I said, "self, that movie really did have shitty men in it". I think the husband was a rapist and child beater. I'm sure there were other evil doer men in Where the Crawdads Sing too.
And I do think that maybe 10 or 15 years ago, in isolation, this film might not be considered "woke" so much, but we all know the reason these men are cast as shit. We know it and you know it.
