One of THE MOST OVERLOOKED classics
The amount of mindfuckery that unfolds in this movie is enough to put your favorite Nolan movies to shame.
Listen, I'm probably one of the most anti-woke mfs on this planet. I can't stand the sight of even the slightest hint of wokeness these days in movies.
So believe me when I say I don't see anything woke here. I see a love for art and storytelling. And some phenomenal acting.
Also, this movie came out during a time where dogshit ideologies weren't shoved down our throats at every turn of phrase. Storytelling was tasteful. The art of cinema was respected.
So, yes. Anyone who does rate this as woke is either a certified moron or a sarcastic attention-seeking troll.

woke and WEAK
"why are people calling it woke?"
really? the bigger question is why are people thinking it's not woke.
if you can't put on your They Live sunglasses then you shouldn't be in this website until you do some further research into what wokeness really is.
(credits to user Michaels for the "They Live" reference. and yes, go read his comment if you want a good education on what's woke in this movie.)
i'll only add one more thing:
the story itself is super weak and forgettable. the dino-fights are the only thing worth watching. and some decent cinematography during some horror sequences.
but the subplots and some action bits made it feel like a Mission Impossible Fallout wannabe, but with dinos and lazy writing.
owen, claire and ian are the standout performances here.
but WTF was that moment with ian unbuttoning his shirt, and then buttoning it back up... off the black lesbo's look? what even was the point of that scene? just another split second social commentary insert which holds no value in and of itself whatsoever.
but then again, neither does Hollywood these days.

"soft and witless" writers
"i'm not as soft and witless as your comment implies. let's go beefcake." --- that's exactly what a soft and witless hag who's never seen the outside of a science lab would say to an experienced mercenary and hunter.
this kind of pissant writing has lowkey been present since the first JP. looking at you Laura Dern. it's obvious who the real "sexists" are in these movies.
ironically enough, Amanda Kirby from JP3 --- who is unjustly overhated for very trivial reasons --- seems to be the ONLY character throughout the franchise who doesn't have a shred of "tough girl" tropes written in (claire a close second).
you can write a competent woman in a script without her being an insufferable bitch. learn a thing or two from the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movies if you don't have a clue on how to do that.
but then again it's hollywood so being insufferable is more or less their thing.
