All Action, No Agenda

The movie we've been waiting for. Straightforward, action-packed film that proves Hollywood can still make entertainment without the cringe-worthy political messaging. This movie is a breath of fresh air because it avoids the wokeness and SJW nonsense that has plagued so many recent blockbusters.

The story focuses on a team of established anti-heroes, and it doesn't waste time on lectures or agendas. The characters, including the female members like Yelena and Ghost, are powerful for reasons that make sense within the story. Their strength comes directly from their superhuman abilities and brutal backstories, which is how it should be. There's no forced "girl power" moment; their capabilities are earned and justified by the narrative.

"Thunderbolts*" is a great movie that is absolutely worth watching. It delivers intense action, a compelling team of misfits, and a story that doesn't try to be anything more than awesome entertainment. It gives me hope that the studios have finally learned their lesson after losing money on all the woke crap. This is the kind of movie we need more of.

Two-hour corporate DEI training session

The Beekeeper is less a film and more of a DEI training session, masquerading as an action flick. Let's break it down:

Plot? What Plot? Jason Statham punches his way through a woke fever dream where every casting choice screams "we're not like other movies!" Got your checklist? We've got a black, fat, racist, Harvard-jersey-wearing FBI agent, and her partner, a Middle Eastern counterpart rounding out the diversity flavor-of-the-week.

Villains? Straight Outta Stereotype Land! Surprise, surprise: evil whitey strikes again. Rich, male, hetero, and cartoonishly out-of-touch. If you guessed the bad guy would be plotting world domination, congrats -- you’ve unlocked Hollywood's least subtle trope.

Action? Meh. Statham tries to salvage the film by doing what he does best: punching, kicking, and grunting his way through terrible dialogue. But not even his roundhouse kicks can save scenes like the martial-arts girl-boss who lasts all of three punches. Realism achieved!

Tone? Pick One! Is it a gritty revenge tale? A buddy-cop comedy? A political satire? Even the filmmakers don’t know. The movie swerves so hard between "serious" and "quirky" that it gives viewers whiplash.

Even reviews are divided Like a Thanksgiving Dinner Debate. Some hate it for being woke, some love it for the Statham-factor, and others… just walked out. No middle ground here, either.

Oh, and let’s not forget the pièce de résistance: the horrible, unbearable, cringy acting of the FBI agent -- played by a body-positive, Afro-wearing caricature who seems more suited to a reality TV baking showdown than a tactical raid. Her delivery is so stiff and overacted you’d think she was performing in a middle school play about FBI diversity hiring. Every line she utters feels like it was lifted straight from a DEI brochure, read with all the charisma of a DMV worker on her third shift. If the goal was to make her unlikable and utterly unconvincing, mission accomplished! It doesn’t help that the script clearly gave up on her, too, shoving her into clunky “empowerment” moments that feel about as natural as a dog walking on its hind legs. Add in the tactical scenes, where she’s decked out in gear that looks more party rental than FBI issue, and you’ve got yourself a character so laughably miscast it almost feels like a parody. Almost.

The real punchline here? She’s meant to be the moral compass, the anchor of competence in this circus. Instead, she’s the personification of Hollywood’s obsession with virtue-signaling — and an unforgettable reminder that cringe, when combined with bad acting, becomes an assault on the audience's senses.

Verdict: The real villain isn’t rich white patriarchy—it’s Hollywood’s relentless pandering. If you’re here for the action, bring earplugs for the dialogue and a blindfold for the cringe-worthy stereotypes. Otherwise, skip the popcorn and re-watch The Transporter.

Woke

A group of unsympathetic British hijackers taking control of a plane filled with passengers, primarily Arabs. The case is under the watchful eye of government agents – strong, capable women, of course. A young black protagonist delivering a pointed line to a police officer about buying a stationary bike to avoid random stops. A heroic black lead, and his wife – not just any partner but a distinguished physics professor.

Then there are the other characters, many of whom appear to check off various diversity boxes, feeling forced rather than adding depth to the story. Queer / gay characters whose presence seems intended to hit a quota, rather than contributing logically to the story.

And naturally, it’s made by Apple.

If any one or two of these elements were included, it might be no big deal. But the show seems intent on including everything, all at once. What was the name of that deep Chinese pan that holds everything together? Ah, yes – a wok.

P.S.
So, I decided to add my thoughts next day after I've finished watching it:
The three first episodes held a certain intrigue and felt somewhat realistic, even as the "woke-ism" was apparent throughout. But as the show progresses, the story loses plausibility, piling on unrealistic coincidences and deus ex machina moments that quickly erode its initial appeal, so I have deducted another point. And yes, it’s woke, woke, woke – practically to the point of parody.

Woke. Dull.

A mishmash of clichés and sappiness. They throw a little bit of everything at you quickly and haphazardly. Dull, and the battles are lackluster. Level of amateur production show that was haphazardly cobbled together in a basement. A reluctant 3 out of 10 from me.

And of course, there's the ESG agenda, typical of Leftflix, with the main character being an uber-strong woman. All the other characters are so boring and uninteresting that this pathetic attempt to integrate them into the plot looks as pathetic as they are

Took a few minutes to think about this movie before dropping my thoughts.

When I'm sizing up a movie for its wokeness level, I aim for a middle ground.
It's easy to fall into the trap of seeing shadows everywhere – like thinking a scene of poverty is a dig at bad capitalists or a flawed white character is some kind of anti-white statement. But let's not get carried away. Most movies aren't trying to be deep political statements. They're just movies.

Bringing this back to "Leave the World Behind." Initially, it just seemed like another flick. Nothing too preachy or in-your-face about it. But then I've found out the Obamas are in the mix as producers. That’s a curveball. We're talking about Barack Hussain, a guy known for his specific viewpoints and political stance. Suddenly, the film isn’t just a film anymore. It's got the Obama stamp on it, and that makes you watch it with a different set of eyes.

You start wondering: Are there messages here I didn't catch before? Is this film subtly pushing an agenda? Obama link is a lens that brings certain aspects of the movie into sharper focus, making you question what's really going on beneath the surface. It's not just about the story being told; it's about who's telling it and why.

That flipped my whole perspective on a film.

Entertaining and non-woke.

No wokeness, SJW etc.
The movie itself is a solid 4 out of 5. Not a 5 because of a "deus ex machina" element.

Great film. Not woke at all.

Important, difficult topic. Dirty side of human nature. Good movie though, from the script to acting to post-production.

Definitely not woke and so amazing

What a masterpiece. Stunning visuals, genius acting, great movie. If not for so a-little-predictable ending and depriving the audience of keeping contemplating of all the pros and cons of main hero actions...
But I am being too nit-picky. Amazing. You wont regret you watched it. I didn't.
