Fantastic and wholesome forgotten classic.

The story behind the animation film is incredible, and I would be doing it a disservice to summarize here. You should look into it- but if you don't, know simply that it's impressive both technically and visually. The characters move in a way that pulls you into the world, and the fades from live action to hand drawn animation are incredibly smooth.

The film is available on youtube and I can't recommend it enough. Not just for kids, though they're sure to enjoy it.

0/5 wokeness, but I think the camel was gay.

???

Hey, did you know the cardinals in the recent conclave watched this movie to learn how to do a conclave? I'm serious, look it up.

Not my type of movie, but probably right for someone. Nice cinematography, natural dialogue, all-star casting and a religious tilt to every aspect.

Not worth it.

I didn't watch this, and I don't care if it's woke. The problem is this-

Disney is remaking their properties as a way to try and maintain their copyright. They let steamboat willy run out, and they're panicking trying not to let it happen again. I personally find this creatively bankrupt and disgusting in more ways than one.

Don't watch this. Don't watch the new lilo and stitch. Don't watch the new moana, or the new aladdin, or the upcoming new tangled. We already have animated versions that are better.

I genuinely can't imagine anyone these movies are made for other than the disney shareholders and executives.

Read the book!

It's on its face a rocky horror-esque watch. The odd pacing, the unintentional mistakes, the inhuman line reading, all centered around a man who looks like the missing link between man and fungal spore. I'm confident you could make penicillin with whatever comes out when you brush his hair.

The book 'The Disaster Artist', written by Greg Sestero (Mark, in the film), is one of my favorite reads and has been since 2012, when it came out. It goes into depth not only on the awful production aspects of the film, but on the strange characteristics of Mr. Wiseau himself. He orders hot water as a drink for every meal. He has a poster-sized framed picture of aladdin above his toilet. He adamantly refuses to mention anything that could even vaguely relate to his age- and the movie poster is a black and white kubrickian portrait of his bloodshot, asymmetrical face.

This is a movie to watch on drugs. Or with a friend. Or in a crowded theater of people who are playing along. Or with the context of the book. Otherwise, I'd advise you avoid watching it until you have one or more of those things.

Fantastic, but...

It's a hard watch. The metaphors are heavy-handed and hit incredibly well, despite the comedy aspects. It's a satirical propaganda movie that understands what makes propaganda horrific, and especially if you have ties to the military, it'll make your stomach turn. They don't shy away from a single detail. Tragedies happen without warning or buildup and then the world keeps moving.

2/5 wokeness for NPH.

A fantastic watch, for a certain type of person!

It's been a long time since I saw a slasher I enjoyed. We're in an era of more psychological based horror, which I have nothing against, but sometimes you do want horror to be more of an escape than an analysis. This movie does that extremely well. It's not brainless, it has good roots and concepts, but it isn't trying to make a huge statement on society, and it does well with what it has!

I've never played Until Dawn, so I can't speak on the authenticity of the product, but as a movie it holds up.

I will say the gore can be a bit much. Stop reading here if you want to avoid spoilers!

As someone who works with butchering animals on occasion and has had to learn how everything is put together, it can be very easy for me to become disillusioned with horror effects. I call it 'The Meat Problem'- SFX crews have only seen the meat on store shelves, and forget that there's bones, ligaments, organs, and anything but blood and what looks like a full steak in there. This movie exceeded my expectations on that front! In the scene where a character's head is crushed, you get to see brain matter, eyes, skull, teeth, and skin in the pile!

I can't tell how much of that is practical and how much is CGI, but that's a good thing. I *shouldn't* be able to tell.

One point docked because of the names of the monsters. It's not only insensitive, it's just wrong? That's not what that is or does, and it would have been more interesting to see a creative, unique monster. Nothing was preventing them from doing that.
