Not Woke, and Balanced with Themes
Some say this film is woke but I disagree. In fact, the film is balanced with themes of traditional, conservative gender roles, the men were allowed to lead, tribes had rules to 'not be useless' and to pull your own weight. There are some tropes like capitalism = bad, but they're balanced with themes that the right side of the isle would champion. Remember this movie was written a decade ago before Hollywood lost its brains.

Yes, this is woke!
I can't believe people say this isn't woke?! The identities of the people tell you EVERYTHING. Main character: Black, divorced her black husband to become a lesbian with a Chinese deaf woman! Not woke!??!?! The woman DEMANDS her son speak in sign language. Then the only white people in the film are 1) MORONS 2) Evil pieces of crap. The story isn't woke, it's just bad. But the casting will tell you in every scene who will do something good, bad, brave, or evil just based on skin color.
