The Toxic Avenger Unrated

Not a terrible nod to the first if that's what they were aiming for

So, let's get Taylour Paige out of the way since we can assume she's a kind of DEI role and all. Fortunately, Toxie is green, has red welts and burns all over his face and she is hot. If they paired Dinklage with a big fat 1920's mammy and made his son a twinkle toed ballerina with a sparkle wand, that'd be different. For me, I think Taylour Paige is sexy and she fits the role if there's even a "role" of sidekick to The Toxic Avenger to be had.

The story is straightforward enough. I watched the original as a kid and loved it. Troma films are not that great, with some better than others. Toxie splatters the heads' of bad guys and disembowels them and is treated as a hero. So that's cool. I kind of wish they toned down the CGI. What sad times we live in where artistic blood and guts is squeezed out of all the boiled fish killed by their AI overlords.

The Toxic Avenger Unrated is worth a watch.

I won't say much about the movie itself as it's what you would expect. Bad over top acting, bad story, cheesy and corny as hell, but it's supposed to be. For the first 45 minutes or so it does a solid job of recreating the feel of the original with lots of little easter eggs thrown in.
Dinklage actually puts up a good performance as the lead. Then in the second half it takes a hard left turn into woke political propaganda and
never look back. There is a lot of DEI casting going on here including the heroic lead black female reporter. She makes a comment about humans
have already killed the planet. A white male reporter sarcastically asks if 'him' is the proper pronoun and the female reporter calls him classless.
There is a long scene of a group of white males called the nasty lads who we are told are political extremists take a restaurant full of minorities
hostage. They are angry about gender swapping the mascot and complaining about the estrogenic thinking of America. One of them does the ok symbol to a side shaved black female and asks if she's triggered. This is clearly meant to be the proud boys and 'right wing terrorists' in general. Despite all the DEI casting there is not one single minority killed in this movie. In fact the official death count is 19 males (all white) and only 2 females. To top it off the males are all killed very graphicly and violently while one female is electrocuted bloodlessly and the other disappears in a fireball. What could of been a decent homage to a terrible yet infamous 80's movie throws it all away for an agenda.
