CIA propaganda

Debris is yet another science fiction show that shares similarities with Lost—a series where inexplicable events unfold. While I often enjoy such shows, the propaganda here irritated me.

Is it woke? It's only woke in the sense of being a (paid?) promotion for the CIA. The State is the religion of the woke, and the CIA promotes wokeness as a means of control. The woke are useful idiots to the CIA when it comes to things like throwing elections.

In "Debris", the good guys are two CIA agents and one MI6 agent. The bad guys sell to the Russians. In the first episode, the MI6 agent says to her CIA partner, "In the wrong hands, it could be the end of humanity," referring to alien tech. Just what hands are worse than the CIA's?

In reality, the CIA would not be trying to protect the population from spooky alien tech. Instead, the CIA would be throwing elections with spooky alien tech.

To get this ass-kissing show, how many people in Hollywood did the CIA blackmail? How many agents did they infiltrate into the studio? How much taxpayer money did they pay as bribes to studio execs?

The constant lauding of unethical people agitates me. Aside from that, the show is a bit "meh". It lasted only one season. I lasted only three episodes before dismissing it as propaganda.

OBEY.
CONFORM.
WATCH TELEVISION.

Below Average Horror Anthology Series

Overall not particularly woke though there are a couple episodes with woke elements. These include some obvious DEI and an entire episode of white man racist, minorities good and not racist. This is typical of an anthology series with mostly below average with maybe 2 really good episodes and a couple terrible ones. Not really worth a watch in my opinion.

Cliché and Unoriginal But It's Not Woke

Not really woke. You could argue maybe for some mild DEI and 1 character appears to be gay but he's frequently made fun of. No preaching about race, gender, sex or anything else. The acting is good but this movie been done many times before and not original in any way. Also not really a comedy so much as a drama with comedic elements. It's worth a
watch just don't expect anything spectacular but at least its not woke.

Just Terrible.

So the previous two reviews could both be right. I guess it depends on how you personally see the movie. I tend to see it as very woke. The Gen X fathers are shown as old out of touch problematic toxic males. They are afraid to stand up for themselves against the woke beta male feminist crowd and end up bending the knee admitting they are the problem and then change to become woke 'better' people. Staying silent and giving in makes you a coward and part of the problem. This is the worst thing you can do. The woke idiot infection needs to be called out and ridiculed and giving in does nothing but make them think they are right and make it worse. This is a terrible, awful movie.

Godzilla-sama!

Wow, this is like a serious WWII drama combined with a 1950's horror movie. The production is well done.

Nothing woke. This is 1945+ Japan, where women are women and men are kamikazes. Family values are the main theme, even though the family members are mostly unrelated survivors of war in a shattered country.

I do not know how this movie was received by the Japanese, but I imagine it could be cathartic for them. Godzilla represents the horror of the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The lead man, a failed kamikaze, reflects their guilt about tactics and sorrow for people lost for nothing.

Godzilla is one tough bastard: damn near impossible to kill, tosses ships like they are toys, and has nuclear bomb "breath". It's absurd, but expected.

Mixing absurdity with realism, the movie is everything we could ask from a Godzilla movie. Superb!

Tarot Trope

In addition to including every single horror movie been there, done that trope in modern history let's also stay the course with a super diverse crowd of tarot players. I think she's dating a black dude. Or the Indian woman has eyes for the guy from those Marvel movies. Whatever. The film is so terribly bad that it just doesn't matter.

Sacrifices accuracy for wokeness

Innocence gives way to darkness in this intriguing film set against the backdrop of 1960s Italy. The cinematography skillfully captures the era’s essence. While the acting shines, the writing falls short of its full potential.

In an interview, the author of the novel on which the film is based explicitly said that a particular character was not gay - and the movie made this character gay or bi. There are multiple gay scenes in the film versus none in the book. Although non-explicit, these gay scenes are propaganda. Rewriting novels to push an agenda is just one step short of rewriting history like in the novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Even ignoring the agenda, the plot has holes in credibility. The emotional impact suffers.

It's a good film, but it could have been stupendous. The writer may have been too focused on shoehorning homosexuality into the straight plot.

Not super woke

Definitely ambiguous, but it's implied to be about Trump. In typical liberal fashion though, they accuse the others of which they are doing themselves. Very "press" focused, and much less about civil war, almost like it was written with war journalists in mind from their perspective and journey. Quite a few DIE casting. Not exactly indoctrination enough to be a 3/5 woke. 1 point for DIE, 1 point for the implication of offerman portraying Trump (blue suit, red tie).
