Affleck without the woke

As a refreshing change from the recent woke cinematography Affleck has been wasting away in, this time we have a pure story about a legacy of crime in Charleston Boston. No politics, no forced diversity casting, no gay. No woke.

No woke, no laughs

The days of Seinfeld are long gone. Bad scripting, bad acting, incoherent motivation, and everything that can go wrong with editing has happened in this train wreck of a story. Who the heck green-lit this crap?

Reviews aside, though, there's at least minimal woke. Unnecessary side conversations about gender and race. But other than that it's not offensive. Even those conversations aren't offensive. Just unfunny.

Fun, no-woke, ghosties

A kind of re-imagining of Men In Black, this one has our ragtag duo rounding up dead people instead of aliens. Surprisingly, no woke, no forced diversity casting, no sex, no gay, no politics. While it's kind of corny and goofy, there will be nothing to taint your popcorn.

Trying hard to link an unrelated crime to "Trumpists"

A girl vanished in the Vatican City in 1983, and when they roll out the suspects, they are sure to label them as "controversial," followed by "Trumpist," "Covid-denier" and the lot. Since it's a documentary there's no woke involved in casting, but they sure are heavy on the right-wing bashing, not a mention of the other side, even when appropriate (such as references to the members of the KGB). So the producers, and of course Netflix, are showing their seething, slimy, smearing colors and painting TDS on their foreheads nonetheless.

Typical BBC woke af.

Within the first five minutes of the series we start with poor poor POC being picked on by a drunk whitey, the phrase “toxic masculinity” and “women fighting back” thrown around unironically.

Thankfully, the story is lead by a “case” storyline which is in itself somewhat interesting. But they’re mostly involving emasculating characters and woke issues. Most of the characters are bossy, manipulating women, except for the lead professor in prison and the poor dude being kicked around by the bitches who surround him.

Although the story gets fascinating afterwards, the heavily unlikeable, chubby, rude bimbo reporter in question drops in later on, and is only enjoyable because you learn to root for her death as the story proceeds. She just never dies.

The theme song is great… until you’ve heard it repeated 15 times.

It had potential, but the BBC is really good at infusing so much woke into a program that it overwhelms the fun.
Nah.

Good old bank robber western

The film gives the characters plenty of time to develop, and the story goes on with a camaraderie that holds well. Well-paced and generally well scripted. No woke, no politics, no forced casting, no emasculation. Good old cops and robbers.

No woke, just creepy people

A continuation of the "I am a Killer" series from Netflix, this season interviews a number of people incarcerated for stalking. It's interesting to see which cases seem sympathetic only to discover the horrific escalation, which cases are just sad, and which ones are unrepentant.

There is a lesbian inmate interviewed, but it's not for the sake of promoting any agenda or politics. It's relevant to her stalking, too. So it doesn't fall in any of the woke criteria.

Way back before woke was invented

Almost a caricature of old-timey films, this James Stewart film features super analog tricks, a corny and simple script, but a fun premise and some remarkable acting by Doris Day. Not a shred of woke in sight!

Good old love story

For people who love literary stories with lots of obscure references and fancy academic terms, this love story is for you. It starts out somewhat goofy, but balances out well throughout. There are references to characters that glorify communism, but they're passed off as jokes, so even what would be an unbearable character today comes off as cute and sassy. Otherwise no political jokes, no forced diversity, no LGBT stuff, no pedophilia, no woke.

A slow-burning series that gets better as it goes on. Has a few loose ends that disappoint, but perhaps they were left that way in case there was a sequel...? (
Amazing performance from Paul Walter Hauser - that creeping freakish serial killer character was eerily believable and subtly crafted. Made me a fan.

Generally no woke. That said, the bossy feminazi detective is a cookie-cutter character in Apple TV series that really grates on the nerves. Why is it so hard for Apple to write a normal woman?
