The best marvel film in years

I won't say the MCU is back, but it's looking like it. This is a 2020s marvel movie-of course there's strong woman character. But that's the extent of the wokeness. Expertly written script that is surprisingly emotional and a killer villain provide this movie with everything it needed to shine. Highly recommend.

All Action, No Agenda

The movie we've been waiting for. Straightforward, action-packed film that proves Hollywood can still make entertainment without the cringe-worthy political messaging. This movie is a breath of fresh air because it avoids the wokeness and SJW nonsense that has plagued so many recent blockbusters.

The story focuses on a team of established anti-heroes, and it doesn't waste time on lectures or agendas. The characters, including the female members like Yelena and Ghost, are powerful for reasons that make sense within the story. Their strength comes directly from their superhuman abilities and brutal backstories, which is how it should be. There's no forced "girl power" moment; their capabilities are earned and justified by the narrative.

"Thunderbolts*" is a great movie that is absolutely worth watching. It delivers intense action, a compelling team of misfits, and a story that doesn't try to be anything more than awesome entertainment. It gives me hope that the studios have finally learned their lesson after losing money on all the woke crap. This is the kind of movie we need more of.

It's decent

You probably won't watch it more than once but it's better than anything the MCU has released in a while. The girl boss thing is there but it's tamed down.

Not so bad. Go girl boss!

It was at the very end I kind of put the whole girl boss thing together. Like, Julia Louis-Dreyfus was the evil doer and, of course, Florence Pugh was the lead kick ass girl. What I mean to say is I made it through the film without being offended by girl boss. See? Not everything offends. And I think Florence Pugh is quite sexy, so that helps.

As other reviewers say, it's a fine movie but nothing I'd sit through again and, for me, not even add this movie to my collection.

Marvel Studios may be coming back

I don't think anyone will ever repeat the chemistry that was between Thor, Rogers, Stark, Strange and the rest. Thunderbolts is in the shadow of one of the greatest franchises ever created. That's a high bar. The bottom line is, this is worth watching. It's got the same action/comedy/drama ratios as the Marvel movies we all love. As far as Wokeness goes, it's there. I read about gender-swapped characters. I found one. According to Wikipedia, Ghost was male in the original story. That's a woke element. The other female member, White Widow, was female in the original. Also, Dreyfus' hated character was in the 1960's Marvel comics as a leading member of SHIELD. That may be a woke element, but it's true to the original story.
If I were to rate this in comparison with the Marvel Studios Avengers franchise movies, It would be somewhere above Black Panther and just short of Ant Man. It's definitely above the second and third Ant Man flicks. This appears to be the first Marvel project for Director, Jake Schreier. Like I said, the bar was set high for this project. He did well.
