Dull.
Casting is woke, making for a dull story, dull script, forced and boring flick. No motivation for any of the characters, no relatable characters, nothing but an attempt to affirmative action its way into existence. No wonder it was cancelled after a single season.

Deep down this is monstrously woke
The film was pretty decent on the whole, but it hid a subtle, manipulative message below the surface.
The two main (white) monster hunters were portrayed as the foolish upholders of a kind of white supremacy—an English, (white) king and queen, who created a false history about the monsters that helped them control their subjects. Three of these four white characters became the story’s main villains.
The other main white character was somewhat heroic but also slightly stupid/clumsy and misguided. He was befriended by the wisest character in the film—a young black girl who was the first to become “woke” to systemic injustice. Her first task on becoming woke was to bring her foolish white friend round to her way of thinking.
There's a scene at the end where the girl gives a big speech to the townsfolk about how they've been fed lies about their history. This triggers a revolution. We see a statue outside the royal palace.
A (black) captain refuses to carry out the king's orders to attack, and the king and queen flee as buildings collapse. We see the statute again, in pieces on the floor. Clearly a nod towards tearing down statues of old white men.
So yes, the film is woke.

Woke free
For all their creative anime, Japan is still a largely woke-free country. This reflects in their movies. Nothing but sword-slinging awesomeness in this modern remake of a classic tale.

Standard war flick
Remember when the army, the marines, even the navy was cool? No pink haired pronoun-slinging, vax-mandating, parachuting preggos? Ah, those were the days. This story hails from a world where it was cool to be a hero. Let’s hope we get back to those days again. Woke-free.

Children's film before they were grooming them.
This was a great film, iconic for children of the generation. No racism, no politics, no sexuality, just pure creepy storytelling for when Tim Burton was still normal. ....erm, for Tim Burton, of course. Timeless classic.

Not only boring, but snide.
Netflix strikes again. They don't have the skill to make a film without sticking in their caricatures of Evil White Racists and gay, gay, gay. It's like they're not even trying to make a good film. No wonder they're losing subscribers by the minute.

No woke!
Lots of snow and Beavis and Butthead sidekick scenes, but it’s an old-fashioned film with no politics, no racism, no woke. Enjoy if you’re not too grossed out by dead bodies.

Gay, Gay, Gay.
“Identity warfare” is the theme of this series, as the story hinges on male prostitutes, cross-dressers, and pedophilia. Naturally they lump all those into one category of “those poor, poor people being discriminated against,” showing with flying rainbow colors that their agenda is to legalize child rape and destigmatize the criminals that do it. Production value is high, but it’ll make you sick to your stomach to realize that the only people who are talking sense are the “bigots” who don’t approve of child prostitution. Not a fun watch.
There’s another layer of eye-rolling with the cringey feminist skank addition, whose entire role is to talk like a 2022 Women’s Studies major and sass the people around her who are trying to do their job. What a lazy addition of a ubiquitous vagina. Not a moment of tension, nor a moment of usefulness. She may as well be 300 lbs and have blue hair.

Too woke for the history books
Guess who the king of the Vikings is? A black female singer! This whole show is designed of emasculate anything cool that the Vikings were famed for - brutish dudes, warfare, pillaging, raping, robbering and slobbering. All of that is gone in the name of woke pandering. What use it spending millions on a historical remake when there’s nothing but fairyland in it? Waste of what could have been a badass budget. Hard pass.

Ah, forced visibility
While it should be about competition, why care about men’s competition when you can care about women’s? And why care about women’s competition when you can care about transgender competition? It gets more and more woke the further you get into the series.
The story of crazy competitions is lost when every other comment is about discrimination. Not as fun as it could have been. Netflix has really dropped the cheese on this one.

Judging by the first episode... Woke
We watched the first episode because the trailers looked promising. We weren't disappointed by the acting or the clever story. The main character had some homosexual neighbors. It seemed like they were going to play into the storyline so we bailed. There were some other indications of social political agenda as well.

Okay until the second season
The story of a group of people touching down after a short flight and discovering that they'd been thought dead for ten years is compelling TV. Even the addition of a bossy, ball-breaking female lead doesn't add to the wokeness - she's actually a sympathetic character.
The first real woke comes in the form of casting, where, true to TV these days, white characters are the minority, all people in positions of power are black, and all the bad guys are white men. That said, there is no racist talk or racist comments.
There is a lot of gay stuff. Every other character is gay or non-binary. It doesn’t show in the first season all that much, but true to leftists, they squeeze all that sludge in AFTER what might have otherwise been an interesting story had gotten started. In the second season it’s all over the place.
From the beginning, there are also a lot of pro-illegal-immigration storylines. Not “immigrant” stories - actual ILLEGAL immigration.
There is mild feminism in the first season, but all the characters in power / academia all get swapped out for feminazis and lesbians in the second season.
In its defense, there are few lewd sex scenes and little vulgarity.
In the first season there is an element of Christianity added to the series that is rare on TV these days. From the second season on, that gets swapped out for the occult. No more talk of the Bible, but lot about paganism and tarot cards.
If you just watch the first season, it’s bearable. It turned me off by the second season, and I wasn’t the only one - it got cancelled by the third season, which I didn’t even get far enough to complain about. Woke ruins everything.
