This has a surprising amount of modern feminism in it. The female lead in the opening scene screws up and gets fellow soldiers killed and
is demoted while we are still told she is one of the best. Then suddenly and for no real reason is just placed as the only female on the
all male team to train to operate mechagodzilla. After an odd training montage that appears to be basic training and nothing to do with actually operating the Mech we are told she is the best of team and will operate the Mech. She is the best at everything, even hand to hand over the male soldiers. Her acting is pretty bad and she mostly just walks around with resting bitch face. The story seems to ignore the original mechagodzilla movies and pretends they never happened.
The FX again are a mixed bag with the miniatures looking better than the very fake looking CG and bad green screen. Mechagodzilla looks like a large plastic toy. The practical FX do look pretty good and there is a fair amount of action if you can take the obnoxious lead female there is some entertainment to be had.

I only lasted about 15 minutes into this but there was nothing woke at that point. How this currently has a 5.9 in IMDB is just proof of fake
ratings. This is typical no budget amateur film school slop. Terrible acting, sound, editing, FX, dialogue and everything else. It's desperately
trying to be an 80's style slasher but fails miserably. Why would you make this over 2 hours long? Cut this down to a fast paced 80-90 minutes and make you bare bones budget go a little farther and you might have a watchable film.

This should of been a fun old school action movie, instead we get a 90's direct to video dud. The acting and dialogue is terrible, the fight
scenes are mediocre and poorly shot. This has every single 80's-90's action cliché you can think of and not in a good way. The bad guys fire thousands of round but always miss everything. There is the usual over representation of minorities in casting and they all appear to be fine upstanding citizens. The villains are Russians, wow how original.

Good, clean movie

As you can see from the trailer, it's obviously somewhat predictable. Sports movies normally are. The action was great. I would've preferred to see more real-time bull-riding instead of the slo-mo mix they used for every ride. With the exceptions of Mcdonough and the reigning champ character, all of the bull-riders were real. Some had speaking roles. Neal played his part to perfection. The supporting acting was top-notch. The story had enough depth to be interesting. I did notice a kissing scene between Joe (McDonough) and his wife, Rose. He's noted for avoiding that sort of thing because it cannot be faked. While walking out of the theater, I had to check the credits to see who played the part of Rose. Her last name is McDonough. Neal is a man of conviction. I don't regret supporting his projects.

Complete garbage. Dei casting everywhere. The entire first story revolves around racist skinhead nazis and their so called peaceful victims
minorities in their woke bar where the entrance has a giant sign saying 'no racism, not sexism, no hemophobia' The violent nazis show up at
the woke bar and push their way in, then just push some stuff over and call people names and leave, that's it. The snowflake wokies then claim
they were attacked and had their asses kicked so they execute a plan to arm themselves and violently attack and murder the nazis while celebrating how brave they are. There is of course the white male with the Asian love interest to keep the mixed race agenda alive. I hit stop as soon as the second 'tale' started with a white cop going into an ice cream shop and going on a racist sexist rant to the two black females. The acting is terrible the FX are all bad CG. Nothing about this is period accurate to the 80's. This is just some Gen Z woke D-Bags playing dress up and complaining about how bad the past was.

Average, but who's the target audience?

I watched this one not knowing the Japanese original, beyond that it existed, and assuming it would relate to the Japanese gambling genre, so, unabashedly over the top and hyper-intellectualized.
This American adaptation is not.
The depth is on par with a puppy’s piss puddle. The plot is a rather bland fare, and the twists are easily anticipated.

It does have a few things going for it, though.
First, it’s a short watch, at ten 30-minutes episodes. And attention is not completely required (although I may have missed some subtle plot points).
Second, the pacing is correct, and there is enough creative cinematography for the show to not be boring. Some visual cues are probably lifted from the original.
Third, the actors. They’re young, apparently unknown, trying their collective best, and they get off pretty well, considering the very peculiar script.
Solanke does honourably with a weak character, O’Driscoll and Alexandrova are quite adequate, despite maybe too much posing (but it goes with the genre).
Martineau is, to my mind, the hot chick version of Chow Yun-Fat. I don’t mean just being Asian; she does have the same sort of face, and tend to mimic his facial expressions.
The result is both very pleasant, and somewhat distressing. I’m never watching Hard Boiled again.
She does have the enthusiastic psychopath down pat, and will probably improve her femme fatale with a few more years on her. The rest of her acting is rather lacklustre, but this could honestly be due to a weak script.

On the bad side: Americanized. And not the good-ol-days America.
So, first, blackened. Or blackified. Black-faced? The Japanese have opinions about the darker-skinned denizens of the world, and very few of them in their art.
To be fair, Solanke’s character is not your typical ghetto/gangsta caricature, so there’s that.
On the other hand, Edwards’ Mary is a typical girl boss. Not Japanese ice-queen boss bitch, as the other females. American girl boss. And Edwards herself is a clear DIE casting choice, and blends very badly with the rest of the rather gorgeous female cast. No shade on the actress, she looks like the director forced her to pack weight for the role.
Also, weak males. Left and right. All around. And also stupid. But somewhat handsome. Seriously. Is something in the water turning the frogs gay?
Third, gender fluidity, strawman mockery of “traditional masculinity”, and pervasive sapphism, which could very well be in the original. None of these are pushed very hard, tough. Almost as if boxes needed checking, but reluctantly. Weird.

So, a triumph of form over substance, not a bad watch, but not memorable either.
