Game Over

Not woke in comparison to most films these days but still more woke than not.

Okay Film

This film is okay. No Wokeness in it.

So bad

I couldn't even finish the first episode. The multiple references to incest. The pseudo religious military cult with transgender character. Awful

Confidently Well Done

I re-watched LA Confidential after a decade+ away and it feels like a completely different film. It reminded me what used to be great about dramatic movies. Every character goes through multiple emotional and dramatic evolutionary arcs, their history, psychological baseline, and motivations are explored several times throughout the film, even side characters like Sid and Buzz Meeks.

Many of the key story beats are perversions of expectation based on these established baselines:
* Bud failing to kill Ed in revenge for his sleeping with Lynn
* Exley's moral failure in the last scene
* DA Loew expecting Exley's moral virtues to protect him from Bud
* Sid being too trusting for a change and ending up dead.
* The entire denouement, which I will not spoil.

These perversions happen not because of some middlebrow Knives Out-esque need to conquer the audience's preconceived notions, but because the characters are people reacting to the events that happen as they occur with no omnipotent morality police cataloging the rise and fall of every prostitute. The protagonists and antagonists are changing because circumstance is forcing them to adapt or join the growing pile of bodies. Even the main plot is filled with beats about what looked like minor or insignificant characters that turn the entire paradigm of the plot's power hierarchy upside down.

The bad guys is not the bad guys, the good guys are not the good guys. There is a layer of political commentary that was probably relevant in the 90's that is no longer relevant now, but the middle of act three is no less coherent because of that subtext (the shotgun shooters).

The story links together episode after episode of seemingly unrelated daily drips of crime and violence with our collection of characters until it all comes swirling together in a whirlpool of cultural criticism weaving the corruptible influences of police and city politics, paparazzi culture, and show business evils into a thoroughly well written and well acted tableau of refreshing art that I honestly forgot existed.

More goyslop for the masses

Yet another popular videogame series has been completely ruined by garbage leftism. From The Witcher, to Halo, to Resident Evil, to The Last of Us, to unfortunately Fallout. Of course the braindead population has eaten this slop up and given it great reviews on other sites. They are all stupid and wrong. This tv show is filled with agendas, pure propaganda. Every single white male is either evil, useless, feckless or feeble in some way. Main characters are a black and a mixed woman who share an interracial relationship (of course!!) and there’s a “non-binary” character as well (whos actor whines about pronoun usage on social media). This series is completely unfaithful to the videogames- from FAT Vault dwellers???? To non binary Brotherhood of Steel members, a member who lets a fellow soldier (of course a weak, white man) die on purpose and things that don’t make sense like a tiny man playing a character who’s supposed to be a young boy and full grown forests (after a nuclear apocalypse). There’s plenty of other threads online of fans of the game tearing this apart for things that aren’t faithful to the game. The only things that are faithful are the overwhelming amount of references from specific fallout games that’ll make mindless idiots point at the screen, drooling (including a very obvious ripoff Megaton). The plot of this show is terrible, characters are unlikeable and forgettable. The sets and the props look visually cheap- as if the set designers and prop masters went shopping for fan-made products or simply the Bethesda website. PLEASE just stick to the videogames. Fallout 3, Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas, maybe even the classics. (Don’t touch Fallout 76)

DEI, DEI and Some More DEI

This is nothing like the comic book it's based on. There are virtually no white people anywhere especially white men. It's just more feminist and DEI casting everywhere. The lead character in the books is a white male journalist stuck in the DMZ. They removed this character completely and made the main character a black female named Zee. While there is a secondary character in the books named Zee she is white and even then is nothing like this character. The writing is terrible as can be excepted. Go read the original 72 issue comic series as it's actually very well done instead.

Easily confused with "The First Omen"

All Italian cast, no DEI, not even a token black or Asian, but doesn't exactly portray Christianity in a positive light.

Woke Annoying Teen Comedy

UK made movie with a stupid amount of DEI casting in a country with 82% white population. Beta white male character pining after his frumpy brown childhood friend who is clueless and has no interest in him. Gay character. This is cringe teen comedy complete with the annoying emojis on screen constantly for the social media addicted morons out there. Non of the characters are likable in the least. The male character is a terrible gutless person who treats his friend horribly while claiming to be in love with her. The female character is annoying and obsessed
with some boy for no apparent reason while ignoring her friend. The parents are just really pointless. The humor never lands at all. No reason to watch.

Woke!

The President is Trump and it makes him out to be a dictator, before having the journalists kill him in the end. An Antifa left wing activist journo's wet dream I daresay!

Wasted Potential

This is almost impossible to review without spoilers so beware. Some minor DEI with the Asian female character who's acting is not very good at all. The black owner I wouldn't really call a DEI hire as his acting is good and he pulls the character off very well. This resorts to some cheap jump scares though there are some genuinely creepy moments. Bad writing however ruins any potential this had. Who wanders over to pool with a sinkhole alone in the middle of the night and leans out
over a loose handrail?

This is not a haunted house movie. Once the twist happens the writing really takes a hit. If she is so dangerous as soon as the Doc spotted her why would you not call the police instantly instead of calling two hospital orderlies and then going into a closed room alone with her. This woman who looks like she weighs 90lbs at best manages to overpower and kill two large male orderlies at the same time. The ending really makes no sense. How is she running the place now? Nobody came looking for all those missing people, including the owner of the INN? Where did all the money come from for the INN renovations? A lot of early potential is completely wasted by the end.

No wokeness that I could see.

It's a remake of a cult classic that was very campy. The over-the-top, fights breaking out every night, idiots with knives, etc. is expected. It's fiction, enjoy it. That said, I was pleasantly surprised. Dalton (Jake G.) had some great one-liners. Connor McGregor broke new ground in character acting. JG's history with Brokeback (which I only heard about) is hard to ignore, especially when he has the blue, equal sign tattooed on his neck. If that's a woke element, it's the only one I noticed. It's worth a watch in my opinion.
