It’s just a mess.
This isn’t woke, it’s just a mess.
Well, actually, it does have some woke elements, but it’s so all over the place that the woke stuff is the most coherent part. Honestly, I’d recommend watching something else—unless you’re in it just to see Jason Momoa in his best role. Yeah, no joke, he's actually not bad. Sure, it’s super cringe at first, but then he kinda becomes the best thing about the whole movie... and even that gets ruined by the movie itself. Anyway, it’s really only worth watching if you’re high and hanging out with friends.
P.S. Don’t do drugs, kids.

Smack my bitch up
It's an amusing film until towards the end, when it goes into a cute Disney style slapstick fest that lasts half an hour. Most tolerate that better than I and rate the film higher.
It's so far from woke that any man behaving today like John Wayne's character might wind up in prison.

Bleh
This film must have had an extraordinarily low budget. I think there were only three set changes. The pacing was slow, the acting was a little cringe, and there were definite woke elements. Pretty bad overall production.
The quote the previous reviewer posted about “some old white guy” was really jarring and misplaced. But what was actually funny about the comment was the perpetrator ended up being “some old black guy,” but she never bothered to correct her statement. That would have been a really smart way to make a stab at the overarching narrative and hypocrisy. But no, she just let that comment sit. Typical.
And yes, we had an asexual protagonist that went out of his way to say so. Weird.
Dumb movie. I sensed they were going for an edgy indie style, and it felt forced and inauthentic. I watched the whole thing, and regret doing so. I really need to stop watching modern productions.

Nothing Woke. This is close in quality to 3 except maybe a little bit worse. Still watchable but some of writing is not so and there is some
problems with characters doing stupid things. Non of these characters is very likable either unlike with the original. For some unexplained reason
Dewey is suddenly totally normal with no limp or lame arm from the 2nd and 3rd one. He now for some reason also can't hit a target 20ft in front of him with multiple shots. There is also a very creepy comment from a police officer talking about a high school girl saying 'she can live next to me'. It's a very weird creepy pedo groomer moment and there is no reason for it.

Nothing really woke in this one. One instance of a black character making a comment about how hard it is to get work as an actor if your
black. That's really all I remember. This is the weakest of the OG trilogy. I rated it the same as the 2nd one but really probably more like
a 3.5 but you can give half points on this site. The acting is mostly ok but there are a few not so good actors as well. The story is ok I guess and is written to kind of tie everything together. The writing though is not as good. More problems with characters doing stupid things and some really stretches in logic and a few holes in the story that aren't explained and doing add up. Still worth watching and an ok ending to the trilogy.

A small amount of DEI overrepresentation in general casting. The opening scene with the black couple and Jada Smith being an openly racist
white hating nasty p.o.s. is disgusting. Brandy as the best friend is arguably a DEI hire as her acting is pretty bad. It's all small things
and the movie overall isn't really woke other than that. The writing is a little weaker than the first one with some questionable scenes and
Metcalf's acting isn't very good particularly the last half hour. Still a generally good movie and a worth sequel.

Nothing woke. This still holds up very well. Acting is good, the suspense and fx are well done. The writing is generally great though
there are a few problems its not enough to detract from the overall movie. A great 90's slasher classic.

Not woke
Quite a few familiar actors. Not a bad movie. Interesting premise. Set in Columbia so the the DIE casting was limited to a random durka durka and a few niggers.

Very moving.
An insight into the painful situation of divorced parents, specially when one is a "gaijin" (foreigner) in Japan, regarding the child custody. Very moving. No wokeness here... Or it was so subtle that I didn't even realized !

Skip.
It took 2 and a half episodes to see the needle reaching the red zone of my woke-o-meter. Skip. Apart from the wokeness, I never really got into the story, the characters, etc.

It's good, but not great
Well, the bar is now so low, simply not having Streep play Jesus in the Old Testament is almost enough.
I don't consider myself a scholar of the Bible, bit I'm pretty sure the writers played a bit loose with the source at times. Pretty sure monogamy wasn't a thing for the kings of the times.
At least, they did not introduce non-sense: men are men, with beards on their chins.
The cast is a solid ensemble of could-have-beens: talented enough that they could have had a bigger career, but not lucky enough.
Or too ethnic: they (almost) all look appropriately Semitic. No black-washing this time, go figure.
Visually, the series is adequate but uninspired. Or inspired, actually. Mostly Lord of the Rings (Lang's Samuel is very Gandalf-y), with some Dune, and a tad of Shogun.
Again, I'm not an expert on the period, but the clothing might be off part of the time, jewelry is sometimes suspicious, weapons are anachronistic more often than not, and the architecture, especially in wide shots, often looks Medieval, Central to Eastern Europe to me.
Anyway, the script flows well, narration is clear albeit not inventive, and the cast works hard at selling their parts.
Uloom and Fehr are stand-outs (always liked Fehr), Lang, well, is about as good as he was in Conan. Or Braven. He really should avoid filming with Momoa.

DEI black boyfriend for the white female lead is a horrible actor and only there for the mixed race couple check mark. The white male security guard has a black daughter. A lot of DEI overrepresentation in general. A large male security guard gets overpowered and manhandled by a tine
petite female. This is a complete mess of a movie. No comedy or horror despite those are the genres it listed in. This is one of those movies
where all the characters are made to act unrealistically and crazy for no reason other than to try to make a odd quirky movie just to be weird.
Despite all the music and product placement it never really feels like it takes place in the 90's either. Just another pretentious indie movie
whos director thinks they are clever.
