Unexpectedly charming

Still not a good movie by any means; more like the curse of having a teen-aged daughter.

The movie does not dwell into "deep lore" or the pathos of the genre, but keeps it light-hearted and comedic. Although it's amusing more than funny.
It's a chick flick, so, not the audience.

The main cast is hit-and-miss.
Silverstone is good, but ironically looks rough for mid-forties. Hollywood ages women.
Ritter is bubbly, and Weaver had been on a downward for some time already by this movie. Her attempts at comedy have always been tepid anyway. Galaxy Quest was Rickman and Allen.

Supporting actors do shine through, though. Mostly by not taking this seriously. Always a pleasure to see Shawn and McDowell (hey, at least they make rent), and Kirk, well, got to love what he did.

Some very discreet representation in the background, but nothing to cry about. Some parts did put a smile on my face.

Could be worse.

Not too terrible or much to talk about here.

Could be I'm not 100% invested in these Conjuring people. Not paying full attention to The Conjuring: Last Rites, didn't notice any background liberal mind altering techniques. Isn't that what they want? Subliminal! Any film without two dudes getting it on with each other wins points with me anyhow.

It's a fairly spooky film. I'm trying to watch the franchise; I'd like to at least get a feel for the story and all. Last Rites seems to follow kind of the same plot as the others. If you're looking for a supernatural scare fest, this movie will fit the bill.

They even botched being a family.

Thunderbirds, retro-futuristic aesthetics are on point. Though it looks atrociously non-functional, especially the robot. And the fashion. We never should have stopped dressing like this, especially the women.
I'm pretty sure it's full of Easter eggs for the true fans. Which I am not, but many details look a bit forced, like they could be there for the true believers. The rocket is named Excelsior; I got this one. I think.

The Thing's head is weird, so is his voice; Human Torch is emasculated, so is Pascal; he's living proof of the existence of a third sex at this point. Clearly not male, but not female either. And then there's the all-too Visible Mary Sue. And the ever-present black female authority figures.
As with other recent movies, this one bears a lot of small, discreet scars; weird hiccups or suspicious danglings at the end of a scene. Feels like the brunt of the woke ended up on the cutting room floor.


And then there's Shalla-bal. Always thought it was a place, thanks to Satriani. But I knew it had to do with the surfing alien. Why a female surfer, and why butt-ugly (tits-ugly too)? Because current year.
Seriously, VFX have dropped off a cliff in the last 10 years. Same for many tech fields, really.

The emphasis is mostly on visuals there: Thing and Torch are wearing their watches left-handed, which is good for the symetry of the composition in one scene, but they act clearly right-handed. Form over substance details, everywhere. See the surfing scenes.

Pet peeve: they clearly show the baby being upside up at the end of pregnancy, and nobody cares. And there's far worse regarding the handling of the baby. Crap, Torch clearly is the most thoughtful among the four. And Richards is a moron's idea of a pathologically intelligent man.

There is some good in that movie, in unexpected ways. But they botched the expected, easy ways to shine. They made a sort-of-maybe-nice-if-you-don't-think-too-much movie where great was within easy reach.

The overall script is shallow, and (I think) they purged what woke they could in the last minutes, because (surprise) it's not bankable, leaving a pretty, polished but empty and direction-less shell.

Meh. The curse of the Fantastic Four.

They named the dog Indy...

The director achieves the tour de force of having a dog as his main actor. He uses his own dog, Indy. Yes, he named the dog Indy. And the result is impressive. The acting, not the name.

The downside of this is, dogs don't really pretend. For one who speaks fluent canine, Indy's behaviour or mood are often incongruent with the purported situation. Well, not when reacting to the actor's feigned distress. Indy really is a good boy. Fun part is, one can guess how the director got his dog to act.

As a (horror) movie, it's atmospheric, well shot and decently scripted. Not much acting or dialog, obviously. It does have the obligatory naked shower scene, though. And the dream sequence scare jump.
It was apparently done on a tiny budget, which shows in the photography, and shooting from the dog's point of view is a tad gimmicky. The short run-time helps it not get tedious.

Pleasant movie. Don't watch with the little ones, unless you want to have one of the complicated conversations.

Traditional values with tiny woke element

Pretty good movie. Better than the second and the third ones of Conjuring movies.

Woke stuff is limited to overrepresented diversity for background roles, and doesn't really bother me.

A lot of traditional values, which felt nice (family, traditions, church, etc.), so I'd say it has much more anti-woke than woke. Pretty wholesome.

Am I satisfied with movie? Yes.

Utter woke garbage. Lead character is bi and has a pointless random lesbian sex scene in an airport bathroom. The lesbian podcaster
is a completely pointless character that serves no purpose to the script other than to get that DEI point. All the cops are corrupt and
bad. Julia makes a statement that nostalgia is overrated and one of the characters says F the 4th of July. The acting is average at best,
the plot makes no sense and can't decide if it wants to be a sequel or a remake. The kills are lame and unoriginal. All the male characters
are either stupid or bad, while the females are smart and good. The OG characters all look bored and much older than they actually are. Speaking of which the originals had the group as teenagers who partied and made a terrible decision after having an accident with someone crossing the road. Here they seem to be in their late 20's early 30's who are actively in the middle of the road in front of cars just being assholes
and cause an accident that kills someone and they still so the wrong thing. These aren't dumb kids they are adults that know better. Skip
this unnecessary woke garbage and watch the originals instead.

The character assassination they did with Ray is disgusting and completely against character with who he was in the originals. This entire movie is one big girl power nonsense and they just couldn't have a male be good. The female killer claims she is just a strong empowered woman chasing her destiny. There is literally 1 meaningless throwaway female character death in the entire movie and every single male character is killed. The large muscular men are easily killed with no problem yet the smaller females always manage to fight the killer off and get away.

Degeneracy 101

All men are bad, a doormat, a deadbeat dad, a super narcissist, a rapist, a pdfile.
+ rainbow stuff, of course.
Avoid.

Outstanding series completely abolished

Series 1 was the best series to come out of Apple TV, ever. Since then they’ve gone full feminist woke. Men are portrayed as bumbling idiots while they put in boss girls everywhere they can.
This show is now unwatchable due to the political ideology Apple is pushing.

I'm really not understanding the other 5 point woke scores on here. The only thing I see that could be remotely considered woke is at
the beginning the father states he's between jobs and is taking care of the kid while his wife is still working. I mean this doesn't really
seem to be a role reversal choice so much as an out of work thing. At no point is he shown to be a beta coward or his his wife portrayed as
an alpha super powered feminist type. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know if I missed something. The positives are good cinematography and atmosphere. The most interesting thing about this was the change of perspective from normal to his while the changes are happening. That was a excellent idea that could of been used to a little better effect. The gore and body FX were also very well done. The acting is mostly good with the only sore spot being the wife. Garner is horribly miscast and her acting is unnatural and out of place. The writing is pretty decent with only a couple of WTF moments. The bad is it's light on scares and resorts more to gore gross out moments than any actual tension or fear. The other big one is it just doesn't feel like a werewolf/wolf man movie. I mean there's no real story, no wolves, no background, no moon. The FX on the 'creatures' don't even look wolf like. It's more of a viral feral mutation thing. I could be wrong but I don't thing wolves are even mentioned once. If you changed the name on this nobody would have any idea this had anything to do with the Wolf Man. For me it was worth a one time watch but not something I would ever go back to.

TRON: Legacy is Underrated and Free from Woke Influence

I’ve always thought TRON: Legacy is seriously underrated. It’s a film that not only pushes the boundaries of visual effects but also offers a unique, immersive experience that’s still impressive today. Sure, it may not be perfect, but it deserves a lot more credit than it gets.

The film was made in 2010, a time when the focus was still on storytelling and visuals, rather than conforming to the inclusion driven trends that would shape the industry in later years. The characters are developed naturally within the context of the plot, not to meet any external diversity quotas.

Let’s be honest the entertainment industry in 2010 wasn’t yet fixated on those kinds of concerns. The priority was on creating a visually stunning experience that honored the original TRON while appealing to a new generation. The movie has its flaws, but it’s undeniably a product of its time, deserving recognition for what it achieved without the noise that often surrounds films today.

If you haven’t seen it in a while, I highly recommend giving it another shot. TRON: Legacy still holds up and, in many ways, was ahead of its time.

Presence of D.E.I. in TRON: Ares

I just watched TRON: Ares, and I have to say, I didn’t mind it at all actually, I’d give it a solid 7. I definitely recommend it if you've already seen at least Legacy and know the basic plot of TRON. Now, the question is: is it a "woke" film?

It does feature some D.E.I. elements, like Black and Asian characters, but it feels more like ticking boxes without much depth behind it. I don’t think it’s fair to label the film as “woke.” If anything, I’d say we should direct our frustration toward the investors who demand these inclusions in order to get funding for the project.

At the end of the day, I’d recommend watching it without stressing too much about those elements. Sure, they can be a bit annoying, but we can’t boycott a movie just because it had to conform to external pressures to get made.

I didn't notice anything really woke. There's been a CIA female director at the time this was made so I don't see that as woke. This is so
far removed from the book that I don't think comparing it is even worth it. The acting is pretty good but for some reason I just couldn't
buy the actor cast as the main character. I'm not sure what it was, his acting is fine he just didn't seem right in the part. I would say this
is an average movie at best other than the terrible implausible writing. So we have a nervous socially awkward CIA employee whos only job
is in the basement working cryptology and deciphering code. But suddenly he is an expert analyst whos able to put together a complete comprehensive target package on a group of terrorists. How did he know how to accomplish that much less get access to the entire CIA database with out setting off any flags? He spends a short amount of time in crash course training and is shown to be completely inept at pretty much everything other than some skill with IEDs. Than the next minute he's in the field successfully evading a CIA agent trying to stop him and seems to be an explosives and IED expert. He's setting off elaborate timed and remote control traps yet never tells us how he is getting the materials and setting up the traps. There just magically there and go off without a hitch. He seems to be an expert hacker as well and somehow appears to still have full remote access to the entire CIA computer network. He just morphs from inept computer nerd to top tier field operative. The book wasn't perfect and had problems of it's own but at least they had Charlie as an amateur with a lot of luck and help on his side to accomplish his goals. It's not a terrible movie
but it requires some major suspension of disbelief.
