Fast Forward Challenge!

I tried to fast forward just through woke elements to see if I could just watch Ray's and Kylo Ren's story (Ray was an "empowered woman" but sizably better than Rose or PurplyHair or Leia). I found that it was a much shorter story and I lost much of the plot in the process.

If you liked Sound of Freedom...

Also watch this film. It's older, but it builds on the problem of human trafficking, showing what it's like for adult women.

Woke Free and Must Watch

Anyone struggling to understand why illegal immigration is bad, remember these four words, "Human trafficking is slavery." Every time we allow in a "family" of undocumented immigrants, what actually happens is... the woman gets sold to a brothel, the children (male or female) get sold to sick freak pedophiles, and the man might be a drug dealer or they might be used for work slavery. In other words, the woke people pushing for universal immigration are in support of slavery. If this wasn't obvious by their endorsement of mass incarceration followed by "work-parole", basically legalized slavery that doesn't result in jobs outside of prison.

Just From The Preview Below...

Let's see, strong Mary Sue woman with nature powers redirects a stampede of what appears to be buffalo. I'm getting some vague environmentalism preaching here, as well as anti-gun and/or anti-hunting, because you know, people don't need meat to live. She meets a guy in town, so I suppose we should be thankful they aren't pushing angry lesbian ideas.

She also grows plants and a flat makes her body glow. Although I have a soft spot for cute anime girls with green hair this gets a pass. Not a hard pass, but a soft pass. Princess Mononoke's better, though.

Underrated

This show was so much better than I expected it to be and did travel into some unexpected directions. And so much more exciting than expected.

One thing it did do is flip expectations and make the husband the one with the most heart. I don't find that to be woke as they're both skilled and dangerous players but the husband is the most easy to relate to. Some of his actions weigh on him.

Not Woke

It elaborates how climate change narrative forces people to eat literal bugs, and everyone is trapped on a train together. There is some class warfare, but it seems ironically caused by the same sort of woke "egalitarian" elements that claim they will solve everyone's problems. Essentially, the climate change types are the bad guys, forcing a strict control on food and even people. They claim that they are preventing overpopulation on the train, but they could have built another train. They could even have, oh I dunno, not tried to blot out the sun in the first place.

Not woke

Interesting direction and twist ending depending on which version you see (without Woll). No woke themes. The woke was limited to the DIE casting; got to get that token black character (when the main lead character is black) and hispanic/latino. But it's taken place in NYC, so the casting may be accurate. Super odd how Zoey appears to have gone from 10-years-old in the original to 20 years old in this sequel when 1 has passed, IRL and the movie.

Could of been great if it wasn't so woke

Entire movie revolves around a gay couple and their adopted Asian daughter. Constant gay oppression and gay victimhood throughout. Also the entire world is saved by the love of 2 gay men who have it so rough because all of society hates them. So much potential wasted. The idea could of been really good and Dave Bautista gives a great performance. The child actor is horrible and annoying as well. So many times they get the upper hand and every time they refuse to take advantage and do the dumbest thing possible.

Enjoyable movie

As a pool player, this is an essential. As a Walter Tevis fan, not so much. The pool culture was a little overdone. If a player acted like Vinnie did in this movie, he would've been shunned, not applauded in a real poolroom. The high points include some real players used in the movie. Keith McCready was a consultant for the character of Grady Sessions. He was so good at demonstrating, he was asked to play the role directly. He did a great job acting the part of a realistic top player. Another real player, albeit a cameo part, is The Miz. Steve Mizerak played (lost to) Fast Eddie in the big tournament. His "I didn't deserve that" line still comes up as a poolroom cliché now and then. As for the story, it is my opinion that this has the record for the movie differing the most from the novel. The only similarities with the book would be the title and the name of the lead character. Nothing else in the story is even close. Walter Tevis actually wrote a screenplay for the movie deal. Scorsese rejected that and opted to use the title and lead character with a completely different story. I would love to see that screenplay surface as a miniseries. Netflix did a great job with Tevis' novel "The Queen's Gambit." The bottom line is that this movie is entertaining and worth watching. You can also read the book without fear of spoilers.

Minor woke, odd film.

Lots of diversity casting. Strange film in that it seems to want to be a comedy and a dark murder mystery at the same time but they don't know how to implement them together. The comedy is out of place and the jokes rarely land. Most of these characters are too stupid to be believable as real people. On the plus side the acting is good and the story is actually interesting, too bad it just doesn't come together right.

Original Swedish film is much better.

Woke aspects are the 2 white males living in the area are complete useless idiots, the other one is a corporate a-hole. All the women are smart and capable. Even Otto is an angry failure who can't even manage to kill himself. Then we have the forced in pointless trans kid that is not in the original and the actor is horrible. Outside that the movie is just not that good. Unlike the original grumpy version Otto here is just an angry asshole who in real life would probably get punched in the face on a daily basis. People like that others tend to avoid, not engage and ask for help all the time. Also people that angry with life and others don't just offer to help at random. Otto is just completely unlikable as a character and I hated him within 10 min. Also some of the writing just makes no sense, like Otto fighting with the developers to get ADA compliance when his wife is in a wheelchair when they are young, then fast forward 20-30 years and the developer is still there and the project is still going on? That would be the worst most unprofitable project in history. Just watch the original if you can find it, it's far superior and has no woke in it.

Not anymore woke than the 1st

They didn't inject any gay characters. The casting choice for general was super odd and a DIE hire though. Had a good balance between both sides. Great SFX.
