Mild woke, ok watch
Made for TV movie, watched for free on tubi. Decent twist ending. Some plot holes, but suspension of disbelief required. Did not notice any woke elements other than the father and sister being black when Amy is white A-F and not even close to biracial.

Too bad
Sesame Street used to be a great kids show- in the last few years I've seen them doing the BLM proaganda, and just the other day saw that Billy Porter guy in a tuxedo gown....ugh, it sucks because its one of the few shows that isnt all action sequence and over-stimulating. Will not be letting my kids watch it anymore, it cant be trusted

Good sci fi movie.
I’m not familiar with the source material, so I can’t speak to its fealty to the original story, but I can say that going in blind, I enjoyed the movie.
In fact, having watched this film in 2023, I can say that by today’s standards, it was downright miraculous; the acting was solid, the plot was original and engaging, there were zero woke tropes (no bumbling straight white male imbeciles needing to be corralled by more ‘diverse’ cast members, no ‘strong independent women’ / depthless shell of a character whose only trait is a bad attitude and that she’s a she). Even more astonishing was the fact that there were no transvestites nor evident trope inclusions in the story arch to ‘appeal to modern audiences’.
I’d recommend this movie.

Made for TV movie, watched for free on redbox. Decent twist. Did not notice any woke elements other than a token black character/interracial couple, especially considering the location where this is supposed to be set, blacks make up less than 1% of the demographics.

Great first season story, looking forward to the second!
Starts off a pretty simple story of a man moving his family to a small town in WY. He has a crazy run in with a poacher and that begins his trail to uncover a bigger more involved plot going on in this town than he ever imagined. Great characters you care learn to care about and the scenery is incredible! Kind of makes me want to take a vacation up there someday.
No WOKE that I can remember or we would of probably not finished the first season. Can't wait for season 2!

Too much fantasy for a "based on a real person".
Watchable, but don't expect much reality on it, despite being the story of a real person. Also, this man said he was able to perform more than 70,000 exorcisms... that means he did an exorcism every 11 hours since his birth to his death.

It's exactly what it's supposed to be

The introduction of Jason Momoa in an antagonistic role initially stirred ambivalence in me, a testament to his familiar portrayal of more heroic characters. His performance, while not exactly masterful, nonetheless takes an intriguing trajectory on screen. Momoa manages to convey the erratic nuances of a true psychopath, sufficiently contributing to the film's ensemble cast. Over time, I found myself appreciating his character's evolution, which was a decent portrayal, albeit not extraordinary.
Staying true to its franchise roots, the movie embodies a whirlwind of high-octane action, convoluted plot turns, and a pace that leaves you barely catching your breath. It's a testament to the franchise's unwavering commitment to keep its audience on the edge of their seats.
Regarding the perception of 'wokeness', it is critical to draw the line between genuine attempts at inclusivity and the mere stretching of our disbelief for the sake of entertainment. The movie unabashedly embraces the latter. For instance, the spectacle of a lightweight female protagonist overcoming multiple male adversaries with brute force is a trope that predates the current discussions around representation and diversity. Think Elektra, Ultraviolet, and The Fifth Element; these movies weren't making a socio-political statement - they were capitalizing on the sheer exhilaration of seeing the improbable. It's a feature that has been ingrained in Hollywood long before the discourse of wokeness, and Fast and Furious, with its flamboyantly exaggerated reality, is an ardent subscriber to this tradition.
I posit that the filmmakers were not consciously propelling a female-centric or feminist agenda in this narrative. Even if such an undercurrent existed, it never infringed upon or compromised the film's palpable masculinity. The Fast and Furious franchise has perpetually reveled in its flamboyance, distancing itself from the boundaries of plausible reality. Okay film. Minimal woke.
I enjoyed the film, but wouldn’t call it a must watch except minimal wokeness. Like the other reviewers there is over representation of certain groups, but at least it isn’t an in your face white hate type of thing and a white person was not denied a lead role. Film was enjoyable and fun, and would recommend a watch, but no a can’t miss type of film.
