Great show overall except for the silly, inorganic, tacked on last scene which shows Korra and Asami holding hands in a lesbian display. Strange considering both characters were involved in heterosexual relationships throughout all four seasons of the show and not once displayed any homosexuality. I believe the showrunners were struck with a sudden case of 'wokeness', which was just becoming popular in 2014, and they decided to tack on a fake lesbian relationship at the 11th hour. Great show despite the last 20 seconds of the last scene.

Apparently a gay couple live in the old Myers house in a decision that feels political and completely inorganic. They constantly refer to themselves as 'Big John' and 'Little John'. It is unclear if this is a sexual innuendo or if it's supposed to be comical - either way it's very distracting. It isn't helped that one of them is played by comedic actor Michael McDonald. Comedian Lenny Clarke is also in the movie and these comedic actors undercut the seriousness and horror of the movie and takes me right out of it.

There is a couple wearing costumes - the man is dressed as a doctor while his girlfriend is a sexy nurse, however, they make a point of saying he is in fact, the nurse, while she is the doctor, lest anyone see a woman in any form of subservient role to a man...again, seems forced.

The movie is shot well and the acting is good, but some of the character motivations and behaviors seems silly and unbelievable.

There's a race swapped Blue Fairy played by Cynthia Erivo, a black, queer, bisexual female with a shaved head - PASS!

A slow-burning series that gets better as it goes on. Has a few loose ends that disappoint, but perhaps they were left that way in case there was a sequel...? (
Amazing performance from Paul Walter Hauser - that creeping freakish serial killer character was eerily believable and subtly crafted. Made me a fan.

Generally no woke. That said, the bossy feminazi detective is a cookie-cutter character in Apple TV series that really grates on the nerves. Why is it so hard for Apple to write a normal woman?

Dirty people fumble around in the forest

I admit to only clicking because Jason Momoa, but though the premise isn't entirely bad, the execution is poor. There's just too much going on in terms of battle choreography and set design to be logical in this "world without sight." There's nothing convincing about it.

The wokeness comes in terms of a strange male-female casting balance. Aside from two or three characters (Jason Momoa and his dad), everyone is women. All the power bitches, all the wispy-yet-beat-three-grown-men battle scenes, all the leaders are always women, and sure, they know how to braid their hair pretty for the blind to see. But don't get any fun ideas - the entire set and all the costumes are grimy. So it's not a harem fest of hot babes or anything like that. It's just a dull, filthy, ragged bunch of Tumblr rejects on their periods pretending they are men.

Nearly invisible woke

A unique story that combines gangsters and medicine all against the backdrop of India. Acting is great, casting is great, and even the script lacks the usual awkwardness of tired modern TV series.

The woke is seriously, almost not there. There are two female characters who break out the soliloquy rants about how oppressed women are by men (all while living opulent lives of crime by their own means), never mind that they are pin-heeling around in luxury all while the male characters in the story get beat up, kicked, live in grime and murdered. So, yeah.

But other than that, there is NONE of the usual identity-politic bullcrap.
No inappropriate diversity casting, no sex or transgenderism, no gay gay gay, no -isms or -rats.

Well, its a gay show, but...

Dahmer is a gay serial killer icon, so there is plenty of that kind of world being depicted. Poor, poor gay people. Surely Dahmer wouldn't have become a bloodthirsty cannibal if only he could have been gay in public, like all the rest of those serial killers! /s

Of course there is woke. But that's par for the course for films like this. So if that's what tickles your pickle, enjoy.

Underrated

A horror film about a haunting beginning with a murder. The saddest death in the story is the poor cow. (Not depicted graphically.)

Why is it that Steven King can be such a raving racist, communist lunatic on social media, and yet write such well-rounded stories and characters?
Could it be the drugs?

There is no woke in this film. No sex or sexuality, no forced diversity, no politics, no transgenderism or identity politics, no social lectures and no "isms." Lots of "-rats," though, but the inoffensive kind.

Mildly woke in a lot of ways, but fascinating.

Creepy and horrific, with remarkable design and unique storytelling. Casting is subtle and thought-provoking. Evil characters are easy and fun to hate on.
Where is the woke? For one, it's overwhelming emasculating. ALL the female characters are screamy, bossy, and physically abusive. There is not one major male character in a position of power or intellect - ALL of them have to be POC and women. Is this woke? Yeah, because it's glaringly noticeable and forced enough to distract from the story.
There is a gay gay gay visibility thing about a certain main character's storyline, but there's no butt sex, no flying penises or orgies, and no pervert stuff. No sex or nudity throughout the series at all (at least the first season), which is nice.

All the above said, there are cringe moments and it takes a long while to empathise with the characters because of them. But the story does draw you in, and eventually you forget about the despised purple-haired-Star-Wars-Lady elements somewhat enough to gain interest in the actual slow-moving development.

At least the first season, only mildly woke.

Boring and slow, but that doesn't mean woke.

A couple brothers deal with baggage when their asshole father kicks the bucket. Very very slow, but some people like that. There is a lot of box-ticking diversity in it, but it doesn't ruin the story. No gay stuff, no sex (but the implication of a lot of it), no transgenderism or identity politics. Woke free.

No woke, lotsa fun

Much better than it looks, better than it's titled, better than Apple TV has promoted. It's somewhat typical in terms of Vietnam War movies, which are all about "war is bad," but it does it with flair. The script suffers a little, but the heart makes up for it. No woke, no forced diversity hires, no eye-rolling emasculation, no happy Communism speeches. One of the few non-woke programs on Apple TV.

Entertaining and smart. Not woke.

Full of action, with a clever script and great performance by Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. And it is woke free.
