Funny duck movie

‘Migration’ is just a fun time. The main family of mallards love each other, and although they occasionally have fights, they work together and never leave each other behind. And no gay ducks!

Hilarious Show

Sure it's woke, but it's not obnoxious. And it's HILARIOUS. My boyfriend and I have watched the whole show through at least 3 times and we've recently started watching it again with my mom and teenage daughter. Everybody enjoys it.

Super fun intelligent show

Characters are competent, intelligent human beings who advance based on their qualities. People made the best decisions they could with the information they had, and once they knew better, they did better.
Casting was diverse without feeling the need to draw attention to anybody's race or gender. Really enjoyed this show!

Only woke critique (SPOILER!!!) is that of course the overall villains HAD to be the 2 rich white guys.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender,’ in the year of 2005, is non-woke. Its four Asian culture–inspired nations are divided by borders and ideologies, not the color of their skin. There are strong male and female role models.

The series’ closest thing to “wokeness” is its discussion of gender issues, but in the year of 2005, it’s actually handled competently in a way that would likely be much more highly criticized in modern U.S. culture.

One main character, Sokka, starts the series as decently misogynistic, often irritating his sister, Katara (however, he’s still characterized as a good person). In the third episode, the main group travels to Kyoshi Island, a location dedicated to the previous incarnation of the series’ “Avatar” and a symbol of both strength and femininity. They also meet the Kyoshi Warriors, a team of young women who mimick Kyoshi’s manner of dress and are skilled in combat. Sokka, who calls himself the best fighter in his village, quickly loses a fight with the Warriors’ leader, Suki, due to his untrained fighting style. He asks Suki to train him (which involves crossdressing, played exclusively for comedy), and is soon able to beat Suki after becoming more disciplined. In the climax of the episode, both characters are shown to be good fighters. Sokka apologizes for treating Suki “like a girl” instead of “like a warrior”; she kisses him on the cheek and replies, “I *am* a warrior—but I’m a *girl*, too.”

At the end of the first season, Katara also struggles with a master who refuses to teach her waterbending (psychically controlling water) for combat, as their culture traditionally teaches males combat and females healing instead. By the end, she proves herself as a skilled waterbender and the master is willing to teach her, but her ability to heal with water also continues to be important throughout the series. Katara is not only a good fighter, but also is sympathetic, sweet, and sensitive.

In other words, ‘The Last Airbender’ teaches girls that they don’t have to sacrifice femininity in order to be who they want to be—a type of message largely missing in contemporary popular culture and media.

‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ is phenomenal and deserves a watch—for so many reasons other than (but including) its messaging.

Not woke

No woke elements. Great action flick. Nia was definitely a case of DIE casting.

Here's our in-your-face agenda!

I have retracted a bit of the hate from my original review. Aside from this film being an in-your-face liberal propaganda piece, it's kind of a cutesy "as expected" romantic comedy. In that sense, it's a fun watch. Previous review (updated):

"Lesbian-interracial couple marriage in Australia. And I so wanted to just sit and watch a silly romantic comedy with a hot looking woman. Sydney Sweeney isn't actually all that good in this movie, but she's sexy! (update: yeah, she's cute)

This film (update: This film's over the top inclusion and DEI brainwashing) makes me want to vomit. I try to not use the word, "Woke" on this board so much, since it's in the actual DNS name of the site. But that's what it is. Here's a couple other words: Hollywood swill (Update: But, still kind of a fun little RomCom).

I'm sure it'll appeal to the dimwit university programmed DEI robots who grew up in this time of asshats. This movie (Update: This movie's inclusionary vision) sucks.

Clown world

I am very impressed with this movie on re-watch. I appreciate the cinematography, image quality/style, and relatable story of an oppressive, corrupt government. It's perhaps anti-woke overall, despite the lead male, Peeta, being a wussy simp and the lead female, Katniss, being a bad ass.

By contrast, on IMDB the reviews are mixed, with some hating it. Many say it falls short of the book or the film Battle Royale. (I am familiar with neither.) Some say it is unrealistic for government officials to dress in absurd clothes and run a kiddie death cage match, but I suspect these are the same NPCs who would be telling us how stylish our officials are and how necessary the Games are if this were happening in our reality.

I remember when The Hunger Games came out, there was article after article about how the movie was NOT making a commentary on the US government (well into the Obama administration). The press doth protest too much, methinks.

The area around D.C. is now the richest area in the US, and the Capitol is walled off. Is this not similar to the capital in The Hunger Games? Sam Brighton, former Head of the Department of Energy under Biden, is a baggage-stealing crossdresser. Is the clown world of The Hunger Games not our reality? The national debt is increasing by a trillion dollars every 100 days, and millions of illegal immigrants are flooding the country and receiving government support. How long until we are starving? The government is oppressive in the extreme to protesters. How long until there is a revolt? The government is pushing for war. How long before 18 year old kids are drafted and sent to die in an everlasting kiddie death cage match in Ukraine or elsewhere?

The Hunger Games doesn't look so ridiculous today, does it? It is a mere 12 years after its release.
