The acting is a real mixed bag here. Some is ok but there is some really poor acting by some the characters. The Ernest scenes are amusing but there is way to much focus on the kid actors and it makes the whole movie come off as very childish. The story is very silly but some of the gags and humor work when Ernest is involved. A step in the wrong direction from the previous 2 movies.

Better Than Expected

Mostly female cast with the few males either bad or morons. Marie Curry getting credit for discovering radiation when that's not true. There are multiple credits including hers and other men, NOT her alone. That being said this sequel to the original was much better than I expected. Most of the cast returns and the acting and writing is good and in the spirit of the original. The story makes sense as a sequel and the FX stay true to the original instead of going the full bad CG route. I would say
if you like the original and can get past the woke you will enjoy this as well.

Excellent Throwback Thriller/Horror Movie

Some minor DEI casting. Starts out as a standard serial killer police chase and ends up as something much more. The acting and writing are excellent. The cinematography is also incredible and the entire movie just has a creepy feel to it. It's a great throwback to 70's and 80's thrillers. They don't make movies like this anymore.

Woke But Not a Terrible PG Horror

Mixed race couple with black female lead. The white male husband has very little screen time and the white boy next door who is a complete
loser as well. They both could of been taken out of the script entirely and it would of made no difference. In fact around the halfway point
they do just that and both disappear as if they never existed. It's all about the females. The black stepmom with 2 daughters, the lady next door and the female therapist. Also it's said that her father lost his sight and mind after looking into the creatures eyes for a few seconds
because he wasn't strong enough yet the mom stares into them for an extended period of time and ends up just fine. That being said the acting isn't too bad except maybe the elderly neighbor. The fx are ok though nothing special. The story starts off as a standard haunted/possesed object cliché though it does evolve into something else by the end. There are some creepy moments and it is watchable for a PG-13 horror. There is little to no blood or gore but as these go it's not the worst.

Not Bad But A Little Hard To Watch

Nothing woke. This is a little difficult to rate as I expected more of a comedy. While there is some humor it's more dramady and deals heavily
with the holocaust. Well acted and directed with wonderful cinematography the tour through Poland is hard to watch sometimes. The other problem is that the Benji character is just so damn unlikable. I realize he has problems and that is what they were going for but Damn I really wanted to punch him in the face several times. I would say this is definitely worth a one time watch just don't expect a light comedy.

Could of Been So Much Better

Nothing woke. Well acted and somewhere in there is a really great courtroom drama buried under some terrible inept script writing. This guy is a writer for a lifestyle magazine yet has never heard of this case that happened on the same night at the exact spot he thinks he hit a deer. There is no way either lawyer finds out one of them is an ex homicide detective. Then the black guy that works at a boys and girls club whos brother was killed by the gang the guy on trial used to be a member of years ago and somehow nobody knows knows that either. The suspect gets arrested for murder with literally no evidence whatsoever other than an old guy who supposedly can identify him from 300 yards in the pouring rain but doesn't see it's not his car. The defense attorney is the worst at his job ever as that would of been discredited in about 5 seconds. The entire jury seems to be made up of weak minded fools who are instantly swayed back and forth with a single sentence. His wife finds out he may have killed someone and is just instantly ok with it and fine with him sending an innocent person to jail. There way to many script problems to list all of them but that is just a few of the big ones. I still managed to sit through the whole thing but it requires you be able to laugh off the nonsense as it comes.

Maximum Woke

Pretty much every single leftist woke checkbox imaginable. Race swapped the adoptive mother from a red head white woman to Indian so they could have that mixed race couple. The show is set in Oregon with a 72 percent white population yet white seems to be the minority here. TV Naomi is said to be bi-sexual with an ex boyfriend and a current purple haired lesbian love interest. Nowhere that I am aware of is this accurate to original comic book character. The parents openly talk about her discuss her bi-sexuality like its totally normal. Why is a show about 16 year old's focusing on sexual orientation anyway. Beyond all that nonsense the acting and dialogue is terrible. Everything about this screams bad 90's teen network show right down to the awful camera angles and editing and even the CG. The episode 1 CG sequence with the superman fight was so bad it had me laughing. No shock this was canceled in 1 season.

Slightly Woke

An overrepresentation of black characters (if we're going by the "representation based on population method"). Ebonic-type wording changing "cops" to "copz" and "super" to "supa." A dance video made by young girls done to hip hop "music." The two best characters are the antagonist cat and fish. Dog man was cool when he was a regular human with the dog sidekick but after fusing them it just becomes an annoying gross dog with a human body. It cannot talk or much of anything intelligent. Mostly this film is annoying and difficult to watch for adults. I can't imagine anyone over 6 enjoying it. There are some funny and some deeper scenes, unfortunately they are few and far between. Overall it's safe for kids but still has some DEI casting and forced counter culture elements.

Mesowokeithic

The movie itself is not bad, but the mid-10s pre-wokeism is grating.

Every male character is emasculated to an extent, and acceptable only if he conforms to a female behaviour, or is outright homosexual.
Every male character is both a victim and a champion, and grows up into the leader she knows she can be.

At least it's not overtly preaching. It's last decade. They still understood "show, don't tell"; I guess not all talent had quit at the time.

There's only so much an actor can do

Kick-Ass buffed up nice. Taylor-Johnson is undeniably charismatic. Also, he will get the female audience approval.

The rest of the movie is mediocre at best. Crowe is fat and bored. Hechinger doesn't find his pace. Movie is meandering and 45 minutes too long.

Major offender is DeBose, providing the obligatory black girlboss magic.
Where Taylor-Johnson worked himself into current year's beefcake, she is aggressively mid. Because, why bother, diversity hire.

Wokeness is rather subdued, probably left on the floor in the final cut. All the baddies are white men, the local branch of the Society of Magical Negroes is all female, and London is 60% black.
The latter being realistic. So many Somali, London doesn't even feel like Pakistan anymore.

The Best Ernest Movie For What It's Worth

Nothing woke. This one mostly works and in my opinioon is probably the best of all the Ernest movies. The acting and humor is mostly
funny though sometimes just silly. The story is of course silly but it still has the spirit of the original while maximizing what worked for that one and dumping what didn't. It's still silly stupid fun but with a much better script and humor.

More PG Horror Lite Fare

Some minor token DEI casting. Strictly PG horror, no scares, no blood. Bad acting and generic story. I'm not sure how they talked
Justin Long and Ali Larter into appearaing in this no budget junk.
