mixed feelings
plot: girl is born by white man and japanese lady in japan. society hates women. society hates white man. the girl is angry. concludes murdering her father = revenge? everyone in movie agrees it is "revenge" to locate and kill her parent! (plot outside movie, "great revenge story." )... woman proceeds to kill all the warriors and assassins in her way because the "revenge" makes her godlike powerful on her way to kill father and all white men in japan. early on: meets (literally) handicapped friend who calls her a samurai. she says she is not a samurai. does not act like samurai ever. (movie receives title "blue eye samurai.")
audio/visual: gorgeous show. would absolutely not have watched through without this level of professional quality artistry. main character has androgynous look to hide as male through movie.
summary: this show constantly reminds you that white men are bad and that the main character is killing her parent for "revenge." an unpleasant and logically dumb show that features good artwork, acting, and overall style in between moments of trauma and deus ex machinas.

Great film. Not woke at all.
Important, difficult topic. Dirty side of human nature. Good movie though, from the script to acting to post-production.

Those who control the past control the future
A homosexual character appears in the first five minutes, so you know it's gonna be woke. Worse, it's a historical character that they just turned gay, in contradiction of everything known about him.
And of course, the Dutch Resistance meets in a gay bar and their leader is gay. This again has no support in historical texts. They are extraordinarily brave and noble - smuggling Jews, arming themselves to the teeth, and even planting a large bomb. In the gay bar, you'll find the only black actor, and he is a super flaming nightclub singer.
This mini-series does not tick every woke box, by any means. There is no discussion of the oppression by the patriarchy. They didn't switch a white person to another race (except for the lead character, Miep, who instead of looking full Austrian is played by a half-Jewish actress). However, the rewriting of history to advance a political agenda is a page straight out of 1984. And so I condemn the director and the studios of Disney and National Geographic and hereby sentence this mini-series to a 5/5 woke score. May God have mercy on their souls.
On the other hand, it's a gripping tale, totally immersive, so paradoxically I give it also a 5/5 for entertainment.

Conflicting, somewhat clever, nihilistic romp.
As stated by another reviewer, this show is not woke as in put-a-chick-in-it-make-her-lame-and-gay, but can best be defined as godless.
In an infinite multiverse, no-one/nothing is quite unique, and no life has fundamental value.
Which is unexpected, considering the very obvious 'inspiration' being Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné.
For the younger crowd, Elric is a tall, lanky albino with a drug problem and access to world-shaking magic, and a tendency to mooch off the life of his lessers, literally. Also, in each universe there is a Champion. In each a Companion (short and pudgy in Elric's case), which the Champion ends up killing usually.
But this in the context of a war between chaos and order, with an overall moral framework.
All in all, the storyline is somewhat clever, somewhat interesting, and somewhat disgusting. Easy, high-school level edgy nihilistic cool, which has always existed. The kind that pushes a young Karl Marchs to put an X in his name because, edgy.
Caveat videor.

Not for kids
Gruesome death abounds, but this is at its core a story of societal manipulation through historical guilt, national socialism, and plain ole vengeance.
Also, there are no 'good' and 'bad' guys, just people making operational, morally indefensible decisions, and a slew of victims.

No woke at all
Virtually no woke at all. This movie being rated "mild woke" exemplifies the problems of this website. If one person sees some where none exists, the movie will forever be mild woke even if a thousand users say there is no woke. TLM1989 is a masterpiece plain and simple.

"I'm not one of you either."
He's pretty funny, quite a few "LOL" moments. Goes up to the line of woke and taunts but doesn't go full woke. Not a weed fiend but even those jokes were mildly funny.

Worth a watch
Fairly good horror about a guy and his brother who stumble upon a possessed man. The possessed are known as the rotten and if killed, the spirit will inhabit anyone nearby. This is a brutal movie and a solid option for horror fans, as long as you do not mind reading subtitles.

Sounds lame, but not so lame
It's better than you might think, though basically just a cheap reality show. The builds are pretty interesting and much more elaborate than in regular Alone, where calorie counting is paramount. Nothing woke. You probably have something better to do with your time, but the episodes are short, and have some educational value.

Hilarious continious fat/gay/ugly-shaming
Sure, there is the gay-bot (in deep denial) and occasional lesbo action and other debauchery, even an entire gay planet. None of it is even remotely woke intended and quite funny.
This crew would sellout in a nanosecond and pretend to be gay/monochrome/woke/whatever if it would put some extra kronex (dollars) in their pockets. None of it bothers. They are constantly shaming and bullying each other for being fat/ugly/stupid/gay and everything in between, it's hilarious!
