Funny Asterix remix, with retro-woke add-ons
This short series is pretty obviously a labour of love, or at least passion, from Chabat, and (most probably) friends.
It mixes elements from different Asterix stories, although I'm not versed enough in the lore to identify which, for a fast-paced, pretty comical result.
It's visually creative, adds some more modern elements (Fastanfurius the legionnaire ...), and a pretty good watch overall.
It's also very French, you probably need to dock 2 stars if you can't watch it in the original, so, there's that.
Sadly, it has the greatest blight of early 21st century wokism, namely morally and intellectually perfect female characters.
Well, supposedly, they just come off as bland, predictable, and frankly nagging, but hey, nobody ever accused your average leftist of self-awareness.
Thankfully, the pacing is brisk and well-controlled, meaning those extraneous characters have very little screen time. Silver lining.
At least Asterix and Obelix are indeed the main characters in their own show.
Also, and I have no idea whether these were imposed on the script writers, quick plugs of climate change, covid1984 being accidentally transmitted by eating bats, and such.
Ah, le sigh. Being funny requires more wit than intelligence.

Disturbing, yes, but not for bad reasons...
“The devil's bath” was a term used at the time to describe these depressed, totally misunderstood women. Director Severin Fiala/Veronika Franz carried out rigorous historical research for the film's script. The chiaroscuro imagery powerfully depicts the open-air prison in which Agnès struggles. The film's harsh, rugged atmosphere adds to the overall mystery. A mystery with a tragic - and perfectly authentic - resolution. “The Devil's Bath” is a demanding film, but leaves a lasting impression.

Besides the unnecessary pride sign ("Be kind") in Alice's new room in the imaginary land, there's no homo stuffs. And the dad who is willing to sacrifice anything for her child is so weaker than the ladies that he lost his eyesight in 1-3 seconds, but the ladies kept looking and nothing happened!🤨

Empowered Female Viking Leader
The Vikings are led by a woman who has an average build but is the most stronger and skillful of the group, and her son has below average in height, build, and skills.
The first segment had parts that I had to fast forward for they were dragging too long as most of the viewers like me would presumably have put this on to watch it for the Predator and not get this feminist, women empowerment, DEI, propaganda shoved down our throats.
After the let down finishing of the first segment, I dropped the film and did not finish it.
I have given scaled the first rating to 1 because the animation is good, and the second scale to the highest rating for the wokeness is so infuriatingly blatant that it potentially causes the whole movie to be skipped.
I finished the movie, and the part where a in-person predator engagements are minor part of the script.
The predator fights with fervor but every time it gets the opponent into a vulnerable position it slows down and gets very calm in addition to that their aim is off the mark like they are stormtroppers or something.

Fantastic and wholesome forgotten classic.
The story behind the animation film is incredible, and I would be doing it a disservice to summarize here. You should look into it- but if you don't, know simply that it's impressive both technically and visually. The characters move in a way that pulls you into the world, and the fades from live action to hand drawn animation are incredibly smooth.
The film is available on youtube and I can't recommend it enough. Not just for kids, though they're sure to enjoy it.
0/5 wokeness, but I think the camel was gay.
