Yet Another Unfunny Not Scary-Horror/Comedy

A group of 6 male friends with the must have black and Spanish token inserts for the box checkers. Some white people bad, natives good and wholesome bs. Then there is a out of nowhere scene with a bunch of racist homophobic rednecks in a bar. The scene just happens
all of a sudden and makes no sense whatsoever. There is a black deputy in a small backwoods Michigan town in the 80's-DEI.
Average to bad acting from most of the cast. Karlos is notably bad, made worse by the fact that his acting seems to get worse
as the movie progresses. His character is supposed to be some kind of hardened badass combat vet, but he just comes off as a
douchebag try hard wannabe. The dialogue and jokes are awful. This is supposedly 1986 but it doesn't feel like it's in the 80's
at all, if anything if feels more 90's. These so called friends don't really act like they are actually friends at all. They are oddly upset and act like some random bartender they met for 1 hour was one of their lifelong best friends. Nothing makes sense. There is a scene where one of them catches a quick shot of the creature on a camcorder and they all takes turns watching it at full speed and not a single one thinks to hit pause
to see what it is they are looking at. It takes to 59 min mark for the first kill in an 85 minute movie and when it finally happens its offscreen and the aftermath fx look bad. The exploding CG truck looks worse. All the kills are fairly tame with nothing you haven't seen before. No humor, no scares. It's too bad as there are some very well shot scenes and the cinematography is generally very good.

THIS MOVIE IS NOT WOKE

This site allows anyone to rate woke content in a movie and, that, unfortunately brings the following case: Someone in these comments has no idea what WOKE culture is and rated this movie with woke content. I make it simple; it IS IMPOSSIBLE for this movie to be woke because it was not created under the DEI laws that currently apply. That said, I recommend any user of this site to read all comments before drawing a concrete conclusion in all cases, and also, if any artistic content catches your eye, watch it and judge it with your own judgment.

"Ain't no democracy down there. No, we've never seen democracy! All we've seen is hypocrisy!"

This Gladiator sequel never stops reminding you it is a Gladiator sequel. Denzel and gay stuff detract from what could have been an enjoyable, if absurd, film.

Denzel is just Denzel, while everyone else is putting on a British accent. It is so annoying. I declare Denzel a DEI hire, not because he's black, per se, but because he was hired because he is black and popular, and he didn't have the skill to pull off the role.

The gay stuff is very brief, sometimes an almost subliminal half second. Of course, we are talking about Ancient Rome, so a certain amount of gay stuff is expected, but it was like a Reddit furry's vision of Roman gay stuff.

Much of the plot fits together nicely, which only makes the plot holes more obvious. It violates common sense even more than most Hollywood films. And it tries a bit too hard to establish its bloodline to the first Gladiator, which only helps to remind you that the lead does not fill Russell Crowe's shoes. (And certainly neither does Pascal.)

This could have been a good film, but Denzel wrecks it for me. The plot holes, Harkonnen brother emperors, and gay stuff don't help.

Terrible Cliché Unfunny Mess

The usual casual anti white racism that is ever present in these all black movies. The acting is average the story is the same old tired poor black business being shut down by the evil white man for code violations just must be saved because it's a staple of the black community. The jokes are eye rolling and not funny. The whole thing is just too stupid. The filmmakers didn't bother to even know the most basics about the game of bowling. 30 minutes was all I could take so the wokeness may get worse later on.

Failed attempt At Grindhouse

Nothing woke. This is a terrible movie. But it's supposed to be. It's meant to be a grindhouse style action comedy gorefest, and it is. That means bad acting, bad FX, bad dialogue, silly story and weird cuts and editing. If you enjoy these types of movies you may like this one. For me it was a bit much, these movies are best when they are made to appear to be a serious attempt that turns out bad. This just feels like it was made to be bad and it doesn't work as well because of it.

Viewer discretion is advised

"Dredd" starts great, with a novel style of dystopian future. It gets rather gory, though. Woke elements are present, but do not get much screen time.

The actress who plays Chief Judge is a 100% pure sub-Saharan African woman, though Welsh-born. I dislike the trend of passing over American black actors for the roles of American black characters. The message it sends is that they are not black enough to play black DEI roles. Plus, I could not understand this actress' dialog in one of her scenes, as she has a hell of an under bite, but we should not discriminate against actors who cannot speak. Should I just be grateful that she has forward facing eyes? I penalize one woke point.

There is a mixed race couple, black woman and white man, with a baby. I don't care, except if it is virtue-signalling by the director. This likely was sending a message, as it was the only couple. No additional penalty, but it solidifies my one woke point rating.

The bloody violence in this movie goes on and on. There is little relief. I started to dislike the experience by the middle of the movie. The plot isn't logical, so I'm left with nothing positive to say.

I love dystopian movies, but not Dredd. I need more substance, less gore.

Edit: In response to the review below, I have been fighting this battle since before you were born, and the battle started before I was born. DEI is rebranded Affirmative Action, which started in 1961 (thanks JFK). The term "woke" was popularized in 1962 by an essay by a Harlem writer.

In 1986, my team at work had an Affirmative Action meeting where we were lectured on how bad white people are and told that corporate policy is to hire blacks and other minorities even if they are a bit less qualified than the white candidates. In our group discussion, I said that's racist and unconstitutional. The next day the (Jewish) head of Affirmation Action drove an hour from HQ to bitch me out and play the anti-Semite card, even though I hadn't said anything about Jews (and indeed didn't have any negative feelings). I was just a summer intern, and I had only spoken the truth, WTF! I told him to get the hell out of my office, and to my surprise he did. Then I got bitched out by my coworker who was the Affirmative Action rep for our 9 person team (and Jewish).

Then in 1992, my new employer lost its contract renewal with NASA solely due to being white-owned, because NASA had started the (woke) policy of using minority-owned contractors if at all possible. NASA gave this highly valuable and important contract to a Communist Chinese "businessman". He was not a US citizen.

"Dredd" is from 1995, Hollywood was already woke, and the Chief Judge screams DEI. 1/5 is mild woke, not a full condemnation.

Unless you're into Monster Action only- Not Worth It

At first, I started watching the show, knowing full well that in this time and age, liberal elements would appear. Unfortunately, it became worse when a hypocritical dilemma on relationships and lust is shown. On one side, Hiroshi Randa is condemned for his lustful and cheating relationship between his two wives- one in America and another in Japan. On the other hand, one of his children- protagonist Cate Randa- is known to engage in homosexual relationships; and yet, that is shown as "seemingly okay"! None of these are okay, but then again, if both are condemned, you would not get Cate and her brother Kentaro, let alone a story! Not worth it. As a heads-up, the LGBT elements openly show themselves in Episode 5.

An original Christmas movie for the whole family and black sheep of families

The church and the subtle teachings and promises of Christ are positively depicted; Kevin goes there for protection and seeking guidance and comfort. As a whole, Christmas miracles and comedic shenanigans from being home alone to warding off two robbers are abound. Family friendly messages of the importance of family are explored; other Godly messages are explored. In one scene, Kevin goes through his older brother's stuff and finds and then immediately tosses aside a porn magazine (thankfully the contents are not shown)- a subtle but great emphasis for chastity. Overall, it is a great Christmas movie.

Very Fun Christmas-themed Musical

Even after 25 years, this special still exceeds in delivering a touching story and a Christmas performance that will be exemplified by Trans-Siberian Orchestra's future performances. The songs are superb and some songs focus on Christ as the reason for the season. It even ends with the character simply called the Caretaker wishing that God will bless viewers on a very Merry Christmas.

Santa refers to the reindeer as she and that upsets anyone? Seriously?
Found the movie to be very entertaining, great action, fun plot, and humor.
